Hi, I want to confirm if we can make a transit via any European countries like UK, Germany etc to India using COPR? I did my landing but I am not sure if I may get my PR card on time for my flight. I am not worried about my returning as I will have my PR card by then, so does anyone have any experience with this?

you can transit through any european country and uk with or with out being a canadian PR.

just on your indian passport you can transit as long as you dont have to get out of the airport...for which you would need a visa.

if you have a connecting flight then you are good to go.

+1 if it helped

they will not allow you to board the flight even if you're making a transit through those nations with an Indian passport. I had an experience earlier, it is why I am asking - can I make a transit now that I have a COPR signed.

Hi,
your COPR makes no difference in traveling other than entering Canada. What makes the difference is your passport. If your passport is visa exempt for European countries you can travel through any European country if not, you need Shengen visa for traveling across Europe.

Technically you need Canada or USA visa on your passport to transit via Europe airports. But generally they don,t check while travelling to India. Other option is travel via gulf countries like Dubai and Qatar etc.

Are you saying that you were not allowed to make the transit even if you are not leaving the airport? I flied to US last year with a transit through Paris. Just had the US VISA on my Passport. Probably as ttrajan points out, they might be looking at the VISA stamped on the passport. Doesnt make sense to me though - if you dont have Canadian VISA on your passport and you are travelling via any country, why do they have to stop you? Should'nt that be Canada's problem?

Would love to stay updated on your experience @crazydesifool because I am too planning on returning to India before I get my PR after I land later this year. Thanks.

The British airways representative told me at the airport that UK allows transit as a complimentary package only if you have a canada/us visa in your passport as India is not a visa exempt country. So let's say if you have a Workers visa in your passport and you haven't completed the landing procedure in Canada, then you can transit through any European countries but since, I completed the landing procedure - my earlier status in Canada is annulled. Now, my status is permanent resident but I do not have anything to prove that to UK authorities. Hence the dilemma, better option is to travel via middle eastern countries.
