good part is that when u will go to the home branch here in canada u will get the debit and credit rightaway.

There is Scotia Bank in Connaught Place, New Delhi. Do you know if they are into retail banking as I am under the impression that they are into corporate and investment banking only?

Yes you can if its Visa / Master card enabled.
But the bank will charge you a commission of 3% or less may vary with Bank policies.
