I am interested in studying plumbing at George Brown college but from what I hear, it's difficult for immigrants to directly get into these apprenticeship programs. Also, if they do get into these programs, they have to return to their home countries once their work period is over. Is this true?

Yes it is true as all trade programs is 5 years which involves 3-4 years of apprenticeship. So for an international student it would be very difficult to complete the apprenticeship and then gain some experience for immigration.

Whether it is 2 years or 1 years, you will not get any experience in that skill as the apprenticeship will only be completed in your max 3 years work permit.
