I think you were lucky, Peter11... I haven't received my passport yet :( - wrote an email to the address you gave me and this was the answer:

Dear Mister/Madam,
We have received your passports and your application is currently in queue to be finalized. Please note that we are unable to estimate the remaining processing time required for your application.
If you have included a prepaid Xpresspost return envelope, your passports will be returned using this envelope. If you have followed the instructions on the website and kept note of the tracking number, you should be able to follow their delivery on Canada Post.
If you did not provide a prepaid Xpresspost return envelope, your passports will be returned by regular mail.
I'll keep waiting :( - it's been 3 weeks now hehe...

Hi guys,

Please suggest me what to do.

On June 18th I got a letter from CIC which stated that I need to send them updated history and pay RPRF.

I replied them back on June 24th with attached updated history and RPRF receipt payment.

Since then, there has been no any news.. How do you think should I send them email kindly asking if my correspondence went through and etc... or I just need to wait more?

My ecas status is still in process...

I would appreciate your answers!

Thanks,
Ksoalka

Hello Ksoalka,

Thanks for your message. I think more than 30 applicants here have paid RPRF and have been waiting for their PPR. So I believe, patience is the best thing to do!

Thanks

Hi Ksoalka,

As per my understanding, earlier the general concept was...if visa office is asking us to pay RPRF means a kind of indication that our file has been processed and ready to issue the visa. But now a days, I don't think it's true. Because many applicants were asked to pay RPRF at the earlier stages of processing application. But one positive thing is, there is some movement in your application. Usually it takes about 3 months to complete all major things like eligibility, security and criminality. It may be less than that in few cases. So, the best way is to wait for some more time...may be a couple weeks more and then try sending them an email requesting for the status of your application.

I know waiting is very much killing everybody here, but we don't have a second option.

Good luck and happy weekend to everybody.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

Hi Sarayu,

If Officer asks for RPRF, it doesn't mean your file has been processed to completion. Infact, they are only trying to save time for the applicant & themselves. If you don't pay it early, it will slow down the issuance of visa. Officer will need to confirm if you've paid the RPRF before issuing Visa. If you send a bank draft to them with the passport, then they will have to first of all go & cash the money at the bank before they issue you the visa. Infact, it is advisable to pay the RPRF together with the application fee right from the beginning. It is also advisable to submit a complete police certificate (including fingerprint) right from the beginning. All these helps in processing one's application faster. e.g. for applicant from certain countries who bear similar names, it is very easy for their names to pop up in criminal background checks. It doesn't mean that the person is a criminal but someone who bears the name too is a criminal. In that case, only a finger print can save the person. So, if such things are submitted right from the beginning with the application, they will just run the name & finger print at the same time. This fast forwards people's application. Furthermore, whenever CIC asks you for additional documentation, it slows down your application by an average of 3 weeks.
I hope this helps!

Hi coshx,

Yes, if you see my post, I was also trying to say the same thing. And yes it's true that we can save some time if we can pay RPRF fee upfront and submit our PCCs along with the application. I have done the same thing...may be that's the reason I do not have any communication from the visa office as of now. Let's see what's gonna happen.

Thanks,
Sarayu.
