Another good news is that i successfully sent my wife's passport through FedEx delivered within 4 days without any problems in India. It is a big confusion whether to send Indian passport through courier or not and mostly people said that no courier company will accept this. But i approached FedEx and told them that i need to send my passport and they said its Ok if you have proper documentation proof that why are you sending the passport than there is no problem. Only Fedex and Dhl have the right to deliver them. So anybudy in the same situation if you dont have anybudy to carry your passport then dont worry and approach FedEx. They said that they havent heard ever that a courier package with passport with proper legal proof ever seized by customs.

This is really gr8 development kavy... thanks for sharing...

Hi
Just sharing, I did my flag polling in Carway border crossing last Saturday 6:30 pm. Overall it only took us 10 mins..was really a long drive but worth it(7hrs). Probably I would say that last 7 months was really exciting especially reading all your ideas and sharing your experience to this forum... May Godspeed to all

Dear ZEESHAN ABBAS DAWOODANI,

The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)
Every principal applicant and his/her accompanying spouse/common law partner are required to pay a Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) in the amount of 490 Canadian dollars.
Our records indicate that you have already paid these fees. They are refundable if for any reason you do not obtain permanent residence in Canada.

Passport(s)
We require a VALID passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Passports for you and all accompanying family members must be submitted together. There must be at least one blank visa page in each passport. If there are children included in your passport there must be blank visa pages for them as well.

Status changed to "Decision Made" on Monday (15 July, 2012)

Thanks to Almighty Allah and my family for their prayers and support. Thanks to you all for keeping the thread alive and posting the updated information

I landed in saskatchewan without anything to declare and it all went smooth and why should i ( i am not crossing the border with shopping done from another country, m already in canada and secondly how can this be true that whatever one is declaring is all they have, i min do they go and check your house or your bank accounts ? )......i have many of friend landed without all this sceurphosism attitude and they havent declared anything and some of them have got even passports now without any problems. Its all a hoax. Just dont worry

Thanks Kavy,

Kinda relieved now. The last thing I want is to pay duty on any items I bring in from India especially valuables/jewellery.

Hi All,

I just did my landing yesterday afternoon at carway border. It was pretty easy. Just first keep driving to US border and told the officer that I want to complete my immigration and do landing. He told me to take U turn and send me back no stamping no questions.

On the Canadian border officer asked me, how long you are in Canada. Do you have any drugs, weapon, alcohol,.... And after answering his questions, he give me a yellow paper and ask to come in. Inside a lady officer asked for the papers (passport, work permit, CoPR) and after 10 mins the officer came back and congratulates me and told you have to apply for new SIN card and took away my work permit. She noted down my address and phone number to send my PR card and that’s it

Overall nice landing experience :)

Hi kia......you need not to pay any duty on any valuables coming from india now. If at all you were to pay any duty that should have been done on the airport when you arrived from India with that valuables. If at that time the customs allowed you with all those valuables, how can you disclose them now and pay duty. If you disclose them now, this simply means that you didnt disclosed it at that time when you actually bring them into the country which is a bigger crime. So Just dont dig deep into it. You are just calling for trouble yourself and nothing else.

Well hi james.....you can notify the change to CIC by emailing them but i think as long as your employer doesnt change and your job position falls in the same NOC category....just dont do anything as this might lead to unnecessary questioning and delays.

Hi Kavy,

I get your point, but I was told at the border that if you do not declare any goods thats you can/would bring in in the future at the time of landing you will be taxed. I did not bring anything when landing, I just walked the bridge and completed the formality, anyway who brings in valuables when on a WP.

Kia, And all the Group. When you first come/Land on PR, only then it is exempted from Custom duty to some extend.

Scenario1: You are in US, you landed at any Canadian borders and then if u bring items- they are exempted. As per the rule they don't care u are from India, Middle east or anywhere !!! Its the first entry which is exempted.

Scenario2: You were in india and you landed at any Canadian airport with valuables, you are exempted.

I had my cousin with same scenario and when he came back from India, his stuff came in container at Vancouver port. He told customs that he had declared good when he landed at buffalo border as he was in new York. And they told him It is his second entry !!! SO NO EXEMPTION.

Rest when it will happen with me, I will let you know !!! :)
