Hey Sarayu,

I've been thinking the same thing. I know they do Security checks after the 'Meds Received' stage, maybe thats whats taking long especially if you've lived in multiple countries. I could be wrong but just a thought. Is the US PCC not valid for a year? Mine said it was valid for a year.

Kia99
Hi kia99,

May be you are right buddy....in my case I have lived in 3 countries more than 6 months and they have to do security checks for all these countries. Hope, that's the reason in my case.

Coming to US PCC, as far as I know it's valid for one year. But I have got it May 2012 and my application was received on Nov 15, 2012. The thing is, I don't know whether they consider my US PCC or not, because PCCs should be issued no more than 3 months earlier to the date of application received at CIO...so, let's see.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

Hey Sarayu,

Dont worry, we'll get through the finish line soon. I am in the same boat as you, lived in multiple countries for more than 6 months. So am guessing thats whats taking time. I am positive that things will fall into place very soon.

Hey Sarayu,

I was reading something about it on this forum only. It says avg is 3 months. Does your ecas show 'Med Received on say 9th March' or does it show only 'Meds Recvd'. Just curious mine says the latter.

Thanks

hello philfresh, Kia99 and Sarayu,
I also lived in 4 different countries (home country inclusive) for more than 6months at a time after I attained the age of 18
I submitted all the required PCCs with my initial application to CIO NS .... Hopefully they have started the security and background checks

I hope so too. I had to require Police Clearance from FBI and RCMP twice to understand, with the first attempt, how long it took them to send it back to me and meet the three month old PCC requirement.
Anyway, i heard from a friend of mine (other applicant with a representative) that her representative told her not to worry about the time that passed between the release of PCCs and arrival of the application to CIO, if that time was not longer than one year. Her representative said that the officer might not consider it a problem, depending on PCC Countries.

@DCCMJ, Khan78,@sarayu;

Sent additional docs that LVO asked for last week.

For FBI certificate, sent request to FBI.... Keeping fingers crossed that I get it in 3-4 weeks...

Let's hope LVO moves to next step ...ie medicals...

Does anyone have an idea whether police certificates/background checks are done after medicals for before???

Hey Philfresh, Babakura, Sarayu,

Philfresh - I hope your friend is right. Lets see what happens next. From my understanding, the security checks are not dependent on the PCC's, its done by an independent agency.

This is source :

Security & Criminality Checks:
A part of the b/ground checks is the 'Security Check'. It commences after our med results are submitted to the CHC. This is a major activity -mainly concerning our 'safe inclusion' into the Canadian Soil; vis-a-vis, Political, Socio-Econmical, Anti-Social disposition, perceived Threat to Canada's integrity etc. This gets us the SDEC, CDEC & SECCRIM.

This is a serious & time-consuming stage, involving many agencies, including CSIS, Interpol, NASC, Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police. Many things are considered here... the No. of countries visited, Applicant coming from 'certain' countries, ex-Servicemen [including Law Enforcement services], Prolonged stay in a country w/out sufficient docs to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, your *Name (?), Inter-Religion/Nationality Marriages etc.

If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', our case goes into a 'spin'. Then our file might go to the local Police/CID agencies; the outcome/timeframe of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the timeframe can be anything [sometimes beyond 1yr]. But, usually this stage should be over by 5 months max. However, a point to be noted is that we can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.

Culmination: Only upon security clearance we receive the PPR.
-Timeframe: Around 2-6 months. Avg. 3 months. [With new system, sometimes PPR is clubbed with Meds]
-eCAS: Still 'In Process', but 'Med Results Recd.' inside.

Kia99,

thank you very much. Your previous post is very clear and helpful. Probably, my most critical period is two - three months in Egypt. Hopefully, this check won't take long.

Hi Guys,

Why don't we have any updates on our ECAS now a days? Any idea? Many of our ECAS got updated with "Medicals received" a couple weeks or a month ago and we did not see anything after that. In my case, I believe they may ask me to produce my latest PCC from (at least from USA) as I had attached my PCCs to my application to CIO and these PCCs have been issued more than 3 months earlier to my file submission to CIO.
Hi sarayu pls update track sheet. April 1 request for RPRF AND ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS. Thanks!
Please share your thoughts.
