Hi everyone as we all are going through the same phase I have a question regarding SIN number updating in CRA account after becoming PR. How you guys did it? Should I open a new account as the previous CRA account has the SIN number which I had when I had a work permit. But after becoming PR got a new SIN and can't find how to update CRA account. Also can't login to my CRA account after getting the new SIN! Please give some suggestions thanks

You wouldn't be able to use the old online account that you created with the temporary residency permit SIN.

I was in the same situation, so here's what you should do: Call CRA, tell them that you're a PR now and you got a new SIN, they will mail you a security code to creat a new CRA online account with the PR SIN (yes, mail not email - unless they changed the method recently). Once you register with the new SIN you'll be able to access last years' returns and apply for any benefits etc

When you file your tax return you will use the new SIN and it will be updated.

Also, your login to CRA does is not dependent on your SIN.

In my case, I just filed my tax with new SIN number and created a new account with new SIN and they mailed me the code and that was it. Didn't call anyone.

Did you get a ghost update at any point?

My photos arrived at Vancouver office on 3-08 and I am still waiting. I will never understand IRCC handling of cases.
I am in no hurry to get my card but why they do not process cases as FIFO once they verify it is complete is beyond me.

It takes around a month before they approve it and 5 business days to forever to get the card for some people. I sent my photos on 18th feb it was approved and mailed on 24th march. I am still waiting for the card.

My photos were delivered last week. Have you tried linking your application to your cic account? And did you got any ghost update or something?

My PR Card approved on Apr 06, 2021 per ECAS. Received in Mail on April 12..
