I called IRCC last week and they said it's fine with photo.
No photo request
They blabbered same with my case too. Photos look fine thats what they said and I got an email for new pics. Once your case is picked up and goes to production that's when they take decision on your photo specs.

Landed on 11th October.

Called ircc on Monday (03/12) since i passed 50 days processing time . They said , photos are okay . I will put a note on your file . So , they will consider . Later that day , I opened cic account, status was updated, and opened it went to submitted again.

Same here.
I landed on Oct 12 at Regway border near to Regina and got the ghost update on Dec 5 after I called CIC on the same day.
I think we will get our PR card in 10-15 days.

I get that, I have done the whole process by myself so im familiar with the jargon. If a family is landing together, why can't it be on same application, was my question. It can be said thats how the process goes, im saying the process can be easily modified. without causing inconvenience to families.
Agreed

How do people know that their photos were received by CIC. Do they receive an acknowledgment letter from CIC ? Or from Canada post ?

Frankly no body can tell a date. When is an unanswered question.

I am waiting for 3 of the 4 cards. 3 were approved on 29-Nov and 1 on 04-Dec. Ghost update was on 19-Nov for all.

So you see all had a ghost update on the same day but then after each is following a different timeline.

Update-

I got P.R. card for me and my wife today 7th December, 2018

Landed 26th September, 2018 Coutts Border

Landed: Oct 11
Ghost Update for me: Dec 04
Photo request for wife: Dec 05

Both photos were taken from the same place and submitted with PPR. They are more than 6 months old at this time. So the logic about photos being 6 months old and being rejected wouldn't hold true - at least for my case. I think I remember commenting that my wife's photograph was a bit hazy.

Anyway, it is frustrating as she was planning to travel soon. Also for those who don't know - photo request email comes from this email id:
Permanent-Resident-Card@cic.gc.ca

there is another secret I came to know today.... it was interesting

We landed October 13 at cuotts border, called CIC agent she said no news good news, account is submitted. Planning to go on vacation in January 7, is there a chance to get it by then?

The cancellation fee is 500$, is there a way to request for urgent processing?

There definitely are high chances that you will get it by that time. But remember it’s the end of the year. And if you get a photo request then it won’t be possible. There is no way to urgently process the Card.
