Can anyone with personal experience with photo re-request (due to specification issues) tell me how long did it take to get the PR card from time the photos are delivered to CIC office?

Hi Guys,

Finally received my PR visa and am set to travel in November. I had a couple of questions:

- is it neccesary to enter from the port of entry mentioned in the visa, as I my case it is mentioned as Toronto, but I want to enter through Edmonton
- the proof of funds can be different from the one submitted at the time of application? the bottom should match or current PoF can be more, offcourse
-as my PR card will be initiated as soon as I enter, if it doesn't come before the expiry date of my PR visa (which is end jan), then how do I stay in Canada during that period?

will be really great to have your views on this one...thanks


PS: anybody in Toronto or planning to go in November, we can catch up

1.U can land anywhere apart from Quebec. 2. POF can be cash, bank draft or even bank statement. U can carry as much as u want even millions as long as u can explain the source but minimum should be the amount mentioned by CIC depending on the number of members in ur family. 3. PR card application will be initiated by the immigration officer. You have to provide local Canadian address to the IO. Roughly it will take 40 days for the cards to be delivered to the adress if there is no issues with your pictures. Once you land, you will officially become a permanent resident and u can live anywhere in Canada. Until u get ur cards u will use the COPR for services such as opening bank accounts, applying for SIN etc. U will only need your PR card if u travel outside Canada and want to go back through commercial transportation.

Have a safe trip. November is cold so make sure to take some warm clothes.

Does anyone in this thread got a view of landing dates for which PR cards are deleivered. Like i read in this thread person who landed on 22 Aug 2016 got the cards. This means for Sept end landing dates like mine we need to wait for atleast month from now to get the cards.

People have got cards in 3-4 weeks so if you landed end of September, and do not get a photo request, you should get your PR card by end of October. Good luck.

thanks a lot for your reply...I had one query...the POF with the fixed deposits and current account balance plus the cash in hand should match the funds requirement? or the cash in hand needs to be over and above the POF statement of matching the requirement??

Not necessarily. It can be above the requirement. In many cases they don't actually check the funds u r carrying. In my case the officer asked how much cash I was carrying but didn't verify anything. But u must declare if u r carrying cash or DD more than CAD 10,000

Thank you for the information. Can you please tell which city are you from?
I am in Toronto and delivered photos (re-submission request) on the 7th. So I am assuming 2.5 weeks from the time they were delivered based on your timeline (But not sure if its the same for any city)
