If someone is traveling back to Canada later, you can ask them to carry your PR card and then you can come back as a PR. TR is an extra step that can certainly be avoided!
Works but is risky. It depends on the person

landed 5th june, got photo retake request on aug 12.
Photos sent 18 aug.
Do they send any notification for receival of the photos..??
Thnx

Yes. The person concerned should be trustworthy - a relative or a close friend is preferred.

I am back in india as I had to serve my notice period and wind up some real estate issues. I am waiting for my card to be mailed and then I will use this process.

If nothing works, then I will first go to New York and then cross the border at Niagara.

I landed April 30.

No news

Still processing

No photo request

Give them a call. They only sent the photo request after I called them twice.

Horrible inefficiency, unbelievable. It's taking them a whole year to send a damn card.. the application itself didn't take that long.

Guys, can someone please answer this:

Do you receive a physical letter for the photo re-submission request? I got an email but not a physical letter, I'm afraid they don't have my address right (despite confirming it) or some problem with the mail system. Are you supposed to receive a letter for photos re-submission as well as the email or only the email?

If you are a new permanent resident who has not received a pr card, you can travel on your work visa if its not expired or cancelled. Border officials usually cancel the 6 month immigrant visa you receive with the copr but not your previous multiple entry visa. If thats valid, travel on that.

Apply as soon as you land, takes 2 weeks. Checklist given on the vfs website.

Landed on June 16th at Niagara. Got PR card on August 16th.

That took a while. Were you asked for new photos?

nope. I just received a new PR card. No questions, no new photos.
