I confirmed with an agent that PR Cards will be sent out via courier in case of a work stoppage at Canada Post, most likely they'll switch to Purolator, which is mostly owned by Canada Post

That sounds great, but it also sounds too good to be true. What happens to those cards that are already mailed out, if mail delivery stops on Friday or early next week? Nobody knows I guess.

Canada post posted "Last day for sending docs" so that they can deliver everything before the strike. No chance things will get stuck at their side.

"Customers should know items may be held if possible work disruption occurs"
I copied that from their website so it mean the cards could possible be stucked in their warehouse.

Where did you see this?

I've just seen that PR cards will be held until the strike is over.

Just my luck!

The question is what happens with the PR cards that they mailed on Monday Jul. 4. Mine was mailed Monday (at least that's what the IRCC agent told me Monday), so there is a pretty big "chance" of getting it stuck in the mail. This will suck big time, as I need to travel soon.

Hi
I got my COPR a week back. Can any senior guide me that i will land in September and fly back in 15 days. Will bring pics with me in CIC specs for applying PR card on POE and will give them address of my friend to mail it. I will come back to India and will have my friend courier my PR card to India. Now i know it is not recommended but i cant stay there because of my job. Has anyone done it themselves? i have read a lot of people saying it can be done, but i want to know if someone has actually done it? Will there be any problems at Indian Customs? Has anyone lost their card in Mail/courier? Also if i come back and have to travel again and apply for PRTD, can anyone tell me their experience with it? What is its validity? Can it be applied after one year of landing back in India? Please help as i dont want to lose my job for another year but also want to shift there and settle there with family.

From CIC Website

Permanent residence (PR) cards
PR cards will be mailed when IRCC resumes using Canada Post mail services. Urgent PR cards may be sent by an alternate courier to you or to a local IRCC office for you to pick up.

I called CIC today, they told me my card was mailed on 29th June. But I still haven't got it yet. :(
Landed on 30th April.

Where you are located in canada .It should come from NS , so you can expect 1-week minimum.

Updated as of July 6, 2016

Effective July 5, 2016, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has put special measures in place to minimize the impact on the processing of applications in the event of an interruption in Canada Post Corporation mail services. This affects the use of all mail services across Canada (first class mail, Xpresspost, Priority courier, Registered Mail) and Canada Post receiving agent locations.

IRCC will hold all non-urgent documents normally sent by mail until IRCC resumes using Canada Post services to avoid the risk of it not being processed by Canada Post in the event of a postal service disruption. Certain IRCC authorized cheques (such as refunds and resettlement support payments) will not be held and will be sent by courier or through other arrangements, as available.

If possible, you should apply online and upload electronic copies of documents instead of submitting paper applications.

When IRCC resumes using Canada Post services, we will process paper applications received during the special measures on a “first in, first out” basis. We will use the postage stamp data to set up this processing order.

All statutory and legislative requirements remain in effect. In most cases, deadlines will not be extended because of this interruption to mail services.

Our online application system and communication tools are available at all times before, during and after an interruption to mail services.

Good to know it's from NS. Thanks. I'm in ON. Seems Canada post stopped working already. I usually receive lots of mails every week. But I haven't receive anything since Tuesday.

Canada Post still works, but most companies don't use it anymore (like advertising companies that send flyers etc). So I really hope we're getting the PR card on Friday.
