Hi all,

Do we really have to wait for PR card to go back to home country?
I am in Canada currently waiting on PR (September AOR) and have plans to visit family back home in India. The stay will be around 2 months.

Please advise

Thanks,

hi,

you can go back to india.

but someone on your mailing address in canada needs to mail your pr card to you in india. so that you can return to canada. so you cannot return back to canada until your friend or relative mails your pr card to you in india.

you dont need pr card to leave canada you just need it to enter back in canada.

also my friend landed on sep 14th and he got his pr card on nov 20th. so please call cic.

Thanks ntwkengg,

I am worried now, What if the PR Card doesn't come in 2 months? I have a job to join after my vacation (worried)
I will be having valid work permit if this helps!

Thanks again

hi eighteen,

now as you are pr. your work permit stamp does not count. so you need to get your card if you want to reenter.

one other way is to apply for pr travel document from local canadian embassy in india through vfs.

as you have longer 2 months stay so i think you should get pr travel document in this period.

also one basic que did you completed your landing procedure in sept? as people from sept already got their pr card in nov and dec.
so i am wondering why you didnt get it. call cic if you completed landing and your copr is signed.

sorry i though you got your pr in sept.

then yes you can do one thing once you get you pr dont go for stamping/ flagppole.
go to india directly and when you come back you sign on copr and your pr will be activated.

I landed Jan 12th, 2016. Waiting for PR. I need to visit the US in April so waiting on the card to apply for a US visa. I have a wedding to go to on April 23rd.

If you get a US visa, you can travel with just your COPR as long as you leave and return to Canada via car.

October 23rd, still waiting.
At that time I was told it would take 43 days.
Every 5 days I check, they add 10 more days.

I am a bit of overdue for a PR party as I thought I would throw it once PR card is received :)
