Even i have booked my tickets for Oct 7th as i have landed on august 16th

Are you going to China? How long will you be there? Will you be staying near a Canadian embassy or consulate while there that you will have enough time to apply for a Travel document as soon as you arrive?

Congrats! Glad to hear it.

I just pulled mine out of the postbox on Sunday. Looked great.

BTW, I just returned from an extended trip outside Canada. I did not have my PR card yet when I left and did not have the time to obtain the travel letter that one should have when returning to Canada by air. There seems to be some confusion with this so I thought I would post my experience here.

Officially, one must have either the PR card or Travel Letter from a Canadian embassy/consulate outside Canada to return by air. However as I learned from my own experience on Sunday, I successfully re-entered Canada without either. I presume this is due to the fact that with my passport, I am a citizen of a country that does not require a visa to enter Canada.

While CBSA does not waive this document requirement for a return travel document in my case, I found I passed through both passport control and customs without being questioned about this. Note that I was using NEXUS Air and was not required to speak with anyone to enter- just answer questions with a machine. But I suspect I would probably have also successfully entered when entering in the normal passport line.

But, for future travel I now have the PR card so no worries.

glad to know that u did not have issues entering Canada without pr card or travel document.. lucky u :D

yep.. no wonder the pr card does looks gr8.. ofcourse for the reason..we really got that after a looooooong wait :) . Alas our painful journey ended successfully. trust me I really didnt like the waiting game.. it freaked me out many a times.. anyways.. next we need to see the how the citizenship thing goes.. lots of changes already coming up in future..let see how things moves then for all of us.. hopefully we all would be there again very soooooon .. !! :)

If our timeline is any help, your card should arrive early to mid October.

You're on the home stretch!
