Hi, I am a Nigerian citizen and serving soldier. I applied for Canada tourist visa in 2016 with my wife but was denied. Presently, my pregnant wife and 2 kids are refugees in Canada.
Am I eligible to reapply for tourist visa? how does their status affect my application?

With your family claiming refugee status, your chances of a TRV are zero. The assumption will be you do not intend to leave Canada once you are here.

In addition, given the current scrutiny of the Nigerian military, you can expect any application for you to immigrate, including permenent residence or refugee status will come with some extensive investigation into your military background. It’s unlikely any application would be processed in the times posted by IRCC.

Hmmm...please how did you get your wife and 2 kids to be refugees in Canada? I actually want to go to Canada with my kids and I have been denied Shengen visa once. How would this affect my chances of getting visas for my kids and I to Canada? I want to give my children a better life, not the kind I experienced growing up here in Nigeria. Kindly advice, thanks.

There seems to have been some irregularities from the Nigerian embassy when it came to granting visas. This seems to have been correctly now because their was a spike of Nigerian asking for asylum and many were economic applicants. Based on your description you are looking for a better life so not an actual refugee. You should look at the economic immigration programs.

Thanks a lot. I am actually in the pool and waiting for an ITA. But of recent, the CRS of 442 and above have been invited to apply. My CRS is not up to 400. Thus, my question for another means relocation .

The concept of asylum is not to provide individuals with "another means of relocation." It exists to protect lives. It's as simple as that.

Unless you face an immediate threat of death and/or torture, you do not qualify for asylum/refugee status.
