they already have my wife's passport because we applied for the tourist visa. but i didnt get any letter, email, or call.
It says the process for a tourist visa takes between 10 to 15 working days. but we got the decision made at the PR... confused!!!

hi,
i went onto the exactly same thing. Lima office had my PR application for about 4 months and I also applied for a TRV. I was expecting them to call concerning the TRV, and had really stopped checking ecas. Then they called after 2 weeks and said to go to the embassy concerning the decision. But i didnt know what were they talking about, I thought it was regarding the TRV. And I didnt know my ecas said "decision made" at this point.
So I went to the embassy expecting a decision on the TRV and I actually got so surprised when it was about the PR!!! and got approved!! no interview or anything! faster process than we thought too, cause they started processing on november 18th and got the decision on february 24th!
Anyways, we landed 1 week ago and got our happy ending :)

Hello Want2know!
Good luck! everything sounds good so lets hope for a positive response!
Well my TRV application was on the 11th working day (although there was a Canadian holiday in that period, and I suppose they didnt work that day as employees from the government... now they may have not been working either during these easter holidays)
I was just talking then with my bf on the phone and said "I wonder when are they gonna call me!" (cause I was expecting an interview, even if over the phone concerning my tourist visa)
Then like 20m later the phone rang. Crazy eh? It was a lady that asked for me, then said she was calling from the Canadian Embassy and the call was regarding my application. (she didnt tell me which one though, if the TRV or the PR) She said that I should go to the Embassy at 3pm that same day to pick up my passport with a response ( and wouldnt say either what that response was)
So I went to the Embassy and thought maybe it was gonna be the security guard giving me back my passport (since they dont let u go in when u submit it) But he actually asked for my ID , and said I could enter and go to the waiting room, there was 2 other persons there and we were sitting there waiting for something to happen in front of some doors that read "interview room #1, interview room #2, etc"
Then I thought they had actually called me for an interview, but when it was my turn, I went to the room, they asked for my ID again and then the girl showed me my passport with a stamp that read "CANADA VISA, and my name, date issued, valid until, etc"... I was still under the impression they had gave me a TRV! but then they showed me my confirmation of permanent residency and told me within what days I could enter Canada, then they said to check all the info on my confirmation of residency and Visa was correct, it was then when reading all the paperwork I realized I had been, in fact, being granted permanent residency, oh Lord I was soooo happy! I thought we would need an interview for either the TRV or the PR, but it wasnt necessary so the process went fast and easy! I think we sent more than enough information that proves our relationship is genuine.
So dont expect they give u details over the phone, they wont, you just have to go to the embassy when they call u and find out, u can also check your email, cause one of the ladies I met while in the waiting room told me she was contacted by email, not by phone.
Anyways, good luck ! Where in Canada would u be going? I met my bf in Calgary in 2006, actually we met online but saw each other for the first time in 2006 in Canada. Then I moved to Calgary in february 2007 but stayed for 6 months, then leave, then re-enter. I gave birth to our baby daughter in september 2008, and landed in Canada a week and a half ago. Tell us how did it go please! all the best

Hello,
Yes I lived in the USA or about 6 years, 1 month in Virginia, many years in Florida and 2 months in California. I also lived 1 year and a half in Canada but always getting out of the country before a 6 month period and then re- entering it.
The instructions say you have to submit clearances from every country you have lived at for 6 months or more since you turned 18.
So I needed FBI fingerprints, police arrest record from Florida and 3 different kind of clearances from Peru (judicial, penal and police, there is a checklist by region that was really useful)
To get the FBI record while I was in Peru, I had to go to the Interpol office where they took them and mailed them directly to the FBI, on the cover letter I sent to them I asked them to mail the results directly to my bf in Canada (to save time)
I wondered if I needed RCMP records so I actually looked for help in this forum, and it seems they do check if any results pops up with your name, and if something, then u are asked to submit RCMP fingerprints. We sent all the documentation from the very beginning and were never requested to submit additional information/documents So i got police, judicial and penal records from Peru, FBI fingerprint records and Florida police clearances. Check the regional checklist CIC has , they tell you the specific documents you need for the specific Visa office.
For Peru, besides all these clearances I needed a certificate from the ONPE about civil status.
Hope it helps! I think they are doing things faster over there! :)
