Hi Guys,

I am looking to apply for visitor visa for my Mother-in-law. Here is my situation-

I am currently on work permit with my spouse being on dependent work permit(my wife is not working). and we have applied for PR, me being primary application and our PR application is in progress.
My wife is pregnant and she wishes to have mother besides to help her through out the pregnancy and after baby is born. We wish to have her here for a tleast 5 months.

The problem is we wont be able to show any liquid cash in her bank account back in India, however, i can host her and bear all her housing, travel and daily meals expenses and provide my bank statements/employee letter whatever is required.

What should i do to build a strong case to apply for tourist visa for her and make sure it is not rejected(as it would be an emotional pain for my wife to not have mother beside her during her pregnancy).
Kindly suggest and thanks a lot

She has a weak profile. She needs to show ties to India and reasons why she will leave Canada.

I strongly advise against mentioning care for your wife and the baby; that is considered work in Canada and your mother in law is not permitted to do that without a permit.

You can have joint invitation for her. You'll need to show all those documents plus what ties she's back home i.e property, family, etc. However, depend on her age, if she's 65 above, or since she's not working, she could be referred to as a full housewife. Never should you mention the purpose of her coming as to take care of her daughter pregnancy/baby or spending 5 months even when she's permitted, it will be unreasonable and illogical.

TRVs are mainly based on the traveller’s profile not the person in Canada. If your MIL is married can her spouse show a decent amount of liquid finances. She will be expected to show she can support herself during her studies and that she has strong ties to her home country. Would make sure you have a plan B like taking some parental leave yourself since her application doesn’t seem very strong unless her spouse has enough liquid funds.
