Hi All,

I am Jay (student in Canada) and my wife is with Open work permit.
I have a query regarding getting tourist visa for my mother in law(from India) since my wife is pregnant.

Can anyone suggest what is the best possible way of getting a tourist visa from India for more than 6 months ?

Regards,
Jay

A stay of 6 months or more would indicate weak ties to India. Hence, a greater chance of a TRV refusal.

Also, mentioning that you're mother-in-law is visiting to take care of your wife will increase her chances of a refusal.

Your mother-in-law must state a visit of 2-3 weeks + demonstrate her strong ties to India (property ownership, family ties, good financial situation, etc)

Hi Bryanna,

Last year my mother visited us and she stayed 2 months then left. Now my mom and dad are coming in July for my son's first birthday. We are three brothers including me and I am the eldest one. My youngest brother wants to come as well. Right now he is studying BBA in university (second year) total length of course is 4 years. He is a full time student and does not work at all. How can I apply for his visa, what documents do i need to submit to CIC in order to get visa. My parents are planning to visit me only for 3 weeks. Please advise

Hi,

I remember your parents' case.

So, only your youngest brother will be applying this time, right? When does he intend to visit ie during his vacations or before his exams?

Cheers

Yes, only youngest brother. He intends to visit in July during his summer break from university for 2 weeks. purpose of visit is to attend my son's first birthday party along with our parents. Secondly, his birthday is also after three day's of my son's birthday so we will celebrate that as well.

IMO, your younger brother has a 50-50 chance of getting approved. This is because his family ties to Pakistan will be weaker as both your parents are visiting + he is a student with no other ties + no previous travel history. You can try though.

You must include:
1. A letter from his college/university (stating he is a bona fide student + has enrolled for the third-year of that study program + the date when the third-year classes will begin) + tuition fee receipts for the next academic year + exam results of the second year + college ID

2. Do prepare a detailed day-by-day itinerary..... like a tourist.... with expense estimates (although you will support his visit). Do NOT limit his purpose of visit to only attending your son's birthday party/your brother's birthday.

3. If you have booked a venue/other bookings for your son's birthday then include that evidence.

4. Does your brother have a bank account? If yes, can he prove he has funds without borrowing? If no then you must include a 'Letter of Financial Support' from your dad + your dad's bank statement (without any large, last-minute deposits).

5. Is your brother a member of any volunteering organization/charity work/sports club? If yes, does he have any event scheduled after he returns?

6. Have your parents booked their plane tickets already? If yes, do include copies of their bookings + if it is non-refundable/no date change then highlight this fact. However, do NOT book any tickets for your brother until a TRV is issued

Cheers
