I'll have a few weeks off from the forces this December and my partner would love to visit my and my family in Vancouver. We've been in a relationship for over 2 years, she (biologically male) is a Thai citizen so we understand it will be difficult, or near impossible for her to get a tourist Visa but are still willing to try.

I'm looking for any advice you're able to offer if you know anything that might help us have a better chance of success or insights into the actual process of getting the tourist Visa. If it helps my family who knows her well is willing to vouch for her. Thank you for any insights.

The fact your family is willing to vouch for her isn't of any value to IRCC. To be approved, she will need to demonstrate strong ties to her home country to prove she has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. Ties are things like employment (preferably not self employment), property ownership, etc. She will also want to demonstrate that she has sufficient funds to pay for her visit to Canada. Additionally, her chances of approval will increase if she has previous travel to countries requiring visas like the US or UK. Assuming this is her first time visiting Canada, recommend she request a 2-3 week trip. There is no interview - so she needs to ensure her application is very strong - the decision to approve or refuse will be made entirely based on her application.

Well it seems like we have nothing significant to really prove she would leave. She's the manager of a small bar, all legal and on paper her boss can provide those doucments. Aside from that she's just renting an apartment and working. Proof of funds are no problem, assuming a bank statement is sufficient. She has never traveled. We would request a 2-3 week trip, I'm assuming she would state that she's visiting her boyfriend and family. It's funny, people always seem shocked when I mention it would be difficult for her to get a Visa but it seems Canada is pretty tough on travel. Looks like I'll be packing my bags come December.
