Thank you!

Canada is not converting any Tourist Visas, you can also check the previous posts from the username: lotus_abbey

You apply for the initial WP at a consulate/visa office outside Canada, the US being the closest (NYC or LA consulates).

@jd.jr > you have to options:

1st - if you have US visa you dont need to go back to Phils, just submit your application for workpermit to NY or LA and wait for the date of interview.

2nd - Go back to Phils and submit your application to CEM-Manila.

@Sky-free,

Application for workpermit under LCP in Manila takes about 24 months or more. This is the standard proccessing in Manila.

If you are working in Hongkong as a Nanny etc. it takes about 3 to 5 months to be proccessed.

My distant relative from Phils arrived here in Ontario on Dec 2012 under live-in caregiver, her application was submitted on June 2010 and her working visa was approved 3rd week of Nov 2012.

Also I sponsored my cousin from Hongkong as a nanny and she was arrived here last week and her application from Hongkong were only 3 months.

Good luck to you guys..

hi, do i need to be physically outside canada to do that or can i do that while i am inside? if in case they will need a medical exam do you know if i can do it from inside canada?

You can send your application to the US (NYC or LA consulate). For sure, you will need a medical exam. The consulate will send you a letter for the medicals or you can do it ahead of time if you managed to find a DMP who will agree to that with out a letter from the consulate.

You can stay inside Canada while your papers are being proccess in NY or LA. If you met all the requirements and all documents are completed the consulate will send you a letter for medical. You can bring this letter to any DMP here in Canada. Good Luck!

Even this is urgent there is no bearing at all. As far as I know, that is the standard procedure in Manila. If you get your papers less than 18 months.... you are lucky one :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi,

CHC-NYC is the one that process TWP applications not LA anymore. LA office process only visitor's visa & study permit. See this link:
