The first question is are you ok leaving the baby with him for a few months. Are you in Canada ???? Is the baby going to born overseas or can you have the baby in Canada.

Are you a PR or Canadian citizen? If you are a citizen your baby will be Canadian no matter what country she was born. Are you sure you want to leave your baby with your husband?? A new born baby needs a mother more than anything... That's gonna be a tough decision to make ???

As a P.r. you can not leave Canada while applying for sponsorship . You will have to wait for birth certificate and you will most likely have to write a letter allowing your husband to take the baby with him . Some will disagree but i traveled with my small children and my husband was at the airport with us and they still asked him a few question about me taking the children. Will the baby have heath care in the new country otherwise you will have to get travel insurance .

no im not a canadian citizen yet...... and the child will be born in canada so will the baby be a canadian citizen ? i know .. its gonna be very tough :( but we have no choice because immigration's timing screwed our whole plan.... :'( i will be with him and the baby for first 6 month and then come back to canada and leave the baby with him for few months......... but is there any problem with that ? i dont think it matters if child stays with their father but it there any process i have to go through?

As a Canadian PR sponsoring a spouse you are expected and required to remain living in Canada. Short duration trips for a few weeks (not months) to visit your spouse is acceptable, but months on end is not and if you are caught 'out of Canada' for that amount of time, you application can be refused because you do not meet the requirements of living in Canada. As complicated and unfair as it seems, this is a necessary evil to cut down on those who get PR for convenience and use it as a glorified visa to travel about. I am not accusing you of anything here, so don't misunderstand, but the rules were implemented for a reason.

If you leave the country for 6 months you are going to be taking a very very high risk road to have your entire application to date refused and you will have to start again. You could potentially already be on the 'radar' for your trip for 2 months previously. It is up to you and how risk adverse you are.

Good luck!

I know of a situation were both of the parents were PR's and they wanted to bring the baby back to China thinking the baby was considered a citizen right after he was born. They had to dramatically change their plans because the baby had to stay in Canada for some amount of time before he would be considered a citizen of Canada. You may want to check into the amount of time he needs to stay before you leave the country.

Children born on Canadian soil are Canadian citizens. They likely had to wait to get the child's passport and paperwork organized in order to bring him back to China.

Since you are a PR, you need to limit your visit outside of Canada to 3 weeks or so. You must be living in Canada to qualify to sponsor your husband. If you leave for six months, you should expect his application to be refused and have to start again from scratch. So you really need to stay here.

How is your husband going to take care if the new born baby? From news etc his country seem to have high rate if diseases so you should take adequate precaution to make sure the baby will be safe etc. make plans to cover sickness or emergency situation . Personally I'd suggest you keep the baby with you until your husband lands . Visiting him for few weeks for him to see the baby will be a good idea but bring the baby back with you to Canada . Am learning so much from this forum :) from where I come from no one will take thier babies to thier dad after few months of birth. It strange to me . Is that normal in Canada ? Like others have said limit your visits outside of Canada . All the best with the new baby
