Total size of additional files to CIC less than 5MB?

Hi,

I receive a request letter from CIC to provide additional documents (about 10+ PDF files to be submitted). In the request letter, there is this sentence:

Please note that the requested information/documents must be received within 7 days from the date of this correspondence. Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account.

Please note that we can only accept unzipped PDF, JPG or .doc files that are attached to an email, totaling less than 5 MB.

Does that mean that: while each file needs to be <2MB, total size of all files (about 12 PDF files) need to be <5MB?

I also find it strange that just above it says "please upload to myCIC account" but the next sentence seems to talk about email attachment.

Any advice please, thanks for your time.

Yes, that's correct. Each file less then 2MB, total 12 files less than 5MP. Probably want to find some compress tool online to do that job.
If additional document request has received, somewhere in your application should give you the option to upload more documents.

I usually print the pdf to pdf, it makes the pdf file size smaller, because it optimizes it for printing

Thank you all for the advice.

I think if I send documents by email, it makes sense to limit all files to 5MB. But if I upload them to myCIC, not sure what is the rational... Does the system really check total size of all files being uploaded and reject certain file ...

I have total 16 PDF files now, some containing pictures. I have compressed them to the max (before it becomes unreadable) and total size is still more than 5MB, hic.

I'm really thinking of just uploading them to myCIC although total size is about 8MB... Not sure if anyone having the same dilemma...

Thanks for your time.

Once the file is above the stipulated size an error will occur and file won’t be uploaded. However I have a question; if you compress a pdf and it’s able to fit the required size but the quality is very low how are they going to go about reading the documents? Do Visa Officers have a way of increasing the quality after compression??
