Hi Qorax,

I have emailed them several times and yet to receive a reply . Now we have found a place, a 1 bedroom walk-in basement in Malton for 750$. They are asking for the first and last month rent as deposit right away, even before we land. So far this one is the best option we have seen. The landlords are Tamils, so our son would be more happy to have a couple of Tamil kids around in the initial days.. The place is close to schools and public transportation. We are landing on Sep 10th. We are confused whether it's OK to take the risk and pay the deposit before we land.

I would appreciate your suggestions on this and your personal views on Malton area, Mississauga please..

Also, I would like to join that Google group of yours, how do I do that?

1. I've no idea why they aren't responding to u guys. Though I was told by them about receiving Indira's query & that they'd contact her. However, I'll spk to them tomorrow & check-out.

2. Malton is a nice place... the best location for newcomers [I've written about it in detail in my "Toronto Neighborhood" thread] - u'd be happy here. The rents here for a 1BR indep basement is $600-650, your pax is charging u $100 more. Nonetheless, this could be due to the fact that u guys aren't here yet. And yes, the norm here [in Canada] is to take 2 months rent in the start [the 'last' 1 month's adv]. But, whether it's Ok to pay-up before u have 'seen' the place - is entirely your option [which, is actually not a good choice, but then it is only for 2 months, so what the heck?].

3. As u arrive, touchbase with me & we'd meet - to add u into our google-group.
