Yes i know many immigrants vote for conservative just because they are strict with new comer DO YOU know that the skills worker is stooped now

also new law will make your ( wife / husband ) wait 2 years to get her PR if they married and came sponsor .

any way the Fertility rate for Canada 1.5 this is so low and the 2.5000 who come every year

is NOT enough to build even small city ...WITHOUT US this country will disappear

Hey Guys,

I had my citizenship test at Scarborough office on March 17th 2012 and since then I haven't heard anything from them.

On the day of the test they said to wait 4 months after the test for oath ceremony if you pass, and 12 months minimum if you fail. Now the test was really easy and I'm confident that I had passed, but I guess you never know. Anyway it has been almost 6 months since the day of the test, and there's no letter in the mail or any update on my online status.

So does the online status get updated if one fails the test, or if an RQ is sent? Also, any chance that they sent me an oath ceremony letter but didn't update the online status? Because I changed my address during this period (I did notify them of address change online and by faxing Scarborough office).

I thought my case would be straight forward since I have been in Canada for 5 years now, during which I was either working or studying, although it might be my fault for not sending them more proofs besides the minimum required. Obviously the best thing for me now would be to talk to CIC call center, but I find it impossible to get a hold of them, so how do you guys do it?

Any help or suggestions you can provide would be appreciated. I'm getting worried because If I dont get it within 1 month then I should apply for PR card renewal.

Hi Alzaeem,
I had my test in February 2012 and I was told that I will get my oath with in 4-6 months, but it is already over 6 months now and I have not heard from them at all. I tried to call the call centre at CIC office, but I never get the same answer from them.
The day when I went for my test, they had a telephone number written on the board and they told me incase you don't hear anything with in 6 months, you should call that number, but unfortunately I lost that number. Do you have it? I just remember it was a 416 number.

All the Best!

Hi MidAmi,

I just got off the phone with CIC call center (finally managed to get through, been trying for weeks). Apparantely the reason for my delay is that one of the background checks they did on me has expired, so they are redoing it which has delayed my application. Besides that, he didn't tell me if I had passed the test or not (i'm guessing that I have), but he said that any major changes to my application should appear on my online status.

I don't remember them putting a number to call if processing is late, but they did give me a fax number that I should use if there's a change of address.

Hi Alzaeem,
I am glade you were able to contact them this time.
It is weird, they always change things. I asked the same question from a friend who had his test a week after mine, they did not give him the number either, but I am positive there was a number written on the board and we were told so.
Anyways, we can not do much except waiting, but we can keep updating about the process.

All the best once again!

Hi Alzeem

You mentioned that background check was expired, I am not clear which background check is expired ?
Do we have to send something to them ?
Thanks

Hi Alzaeem

the fax number for the Scarborough office is : 416-952-0103

don't forget to put your ID number ,name , old and new address good luck

I'm not sure what this background check involves, but he said that I am not required to do anything and that I should receive a respone when it is done. I am guessing it is probably a security related check since these typically expire fairly quickly.

Maybe they had delays at the Scarborough office and the same thing happened to other people, but the best thing would be to talk to CIC call center staff for yourself if you can get a hold of them.

Thanks Alzaeem,

I have just sent my application and I got the acknowledgement only.

Hey,

Could u tell us when did u send ur application and how long did they take to send u the acknowledgment letter...all the best...hopefully u will recieve ur citizenship soon...

can you please tell us what date the local office receive your file ?

my timeline so far
We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on July 4, 2011.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on July 4, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on February 20, 2012... my file was transfered to scarborough already but i,m still waiting on a test date..
Hi,
Seems you and I have the same issue both applied same time, my file also transferred in February. I have not received any letter, I called CIC, no test date or letter sent. Have you received any yet? Did you call CIC?

Timeline:

We received your application on MAy31, 2011
We Sent letter ... May 31, 2011
We started processing your application on Feb 10, 2012.

Nothing mentioned about which office file was transferred. How do you people now about that. Its on
your online status page or the last statement "We started processing your ....." implies that file has been transferred to closest
office as Scarborough one is closest to me.

Thanks,

it appears to me scarborough cic still arranging the test of the applicants becoming "in process" in jan 2012.
