Thank you. That's what I am trying to do. Alberta will be my destination. Ryan, I am so happy that I came to this forum. That I could get someone who understands students. Otherwise, I don't know why some of these people were just discouraging me as if I have done a crime by not going to the university and by going to a college. Whether these people understand that everybody cannot come to the university.

Thanks Saver. I will leave for Alberta, there's someone from the forum who has extended me help in Edmonton. BUT, I am so happy that there are real human beings in this forum. It's just not the virtual world. Thank you David Cohen for running this popular forum.

6 months after finishing my business studies from George Brown College, I am not able to find job. I have no idea of PR in Ontrio. While I was a student, I was working at $ 6 an hour. Strange, why did I come here? Cursing my agent who got my admission in Toronto.

Victims of Toronto- please post your grievances so that more students don't go to Toronto and lose their parents hard earned money.
Maybe you are looking for the wrong jobs, wrong positions or doing something wrong.

Why that? I got my job on Business field in my first application and also, in less than 1 month I already receive an award for excellent service.

What I already realize here is most international students think that they will get a nice job in their first year over here, this is not true, at least before you get a good Canadian work experience, this really matters.

Besides that, taking each step by step, you going to start getting experience and learning where are the good jobs, sometimes you must start in a lower position, but working hard and choosing companies that has and respect their career plan, you can grow up and jump to higher positions, just give time to time and do your best.

Another important question is that most international students don't have the right information in their resumes and/or cover letters, this is very important because HR agents will not even read a wrong resume and/or cover letter.

I would pay a visit to the college’s careers office, make appointment after appointment, and identify the jobs you should be targeting, fine tuning of your resume etc. Visit recruitment consultants; just get a better picture as to why you aren’t succeeding, with their help you might be able to get on the first rung of the ladder. You still might be forced to relocate to another province, it could be permanent, if it is temporarily then upon your return you can get back and use your previous contacts.

he's trying to say that international students should edit and improve their resumes/cv and cover letter, make it presentable, professional and must have standard.

ps. next time, choose a "wiser" color.

Ariane, do you know the condition of students in Toronto those who are in the colleges? You seem to be talking too unrealistic. There are hundreds of students like me who have come to Toronto colleges and have no idea what to do once graduated from the college. And, the PR options become really tough.

If I had been so bright, I would have stayed in India doing my education from IIT &IIM. I have come to the forum not to listen to people who are here to blame but listen to those who have some ideas to guide me. You are completely misusing the forum.
Victim of Toronto, please refrain from using such strong language against forum members. From what I understand of Arianne*'s post, s/he has offered their analysis of where things might have gone wrong. Though not useful to you at this juncture (as obviously you have completed your studies or are close to completing), this analysis might help prospective students choose their options wisely.

First of all the starter of this thread you have no right to discourage the students who will be going to Canada(yes im saying Canada and not specifying Toronto) or who have recently reached there..
secondly it was your mistake you didn't do enough research/homework before taking admission or selecting your course , you cant depend on anybody be it an agent or your own siblings for such things..
next if you would have utilized your time after reaching there and if you were inquisitive enough you wouldn't have blamed anybody for whatever happened..its all in you how you find prospectives for everything in life..
rather than just depending on your course etc if you go around talk to people who are much experienced than you .things might help for you..there are thousands of people in Toronto who don't even have proper degrees and they worked hard and now are settled with good jobs..
instead of just cribbing and blaming, get up and and move around..keep that zeal in you to find that correct stuff for you..

i can give advises to you how to extend your study permit etc but i would really not like to get involved becoz i can see that you have already made your mind...

and others who have supported him, i don't understand how can you even support people like this..

and yes i may not be in your shoes but still things are not that bad as you have portrayed..

I agree with Arianne and mead. A lot of students leave India (or their respective countries) without much thought just assuming that life will be better there just because hundreds of other students are. If you think you are not smart enough to get into and IIT (or any other good colleges of India), you won't be smart enough to get into good universities (like UofT, etc) and your condition will be the same. You can't expect better treatment in Canada as there is a high amount of competition in Toronto too (much like India).

So running away from Toronto (to other provinces) coz "its easy out there" is just the same like running away from India just coz you could not get into and IIT or NIT or whatever.

Disclaimer: I'm NOT saying IITs or NITs are the ONLY good colleges in India....there are many many more, I was just giving one example. Same goes for UofT in Canada. The point is whether you choose to decide to face the competition or run away from it.

Rather it is making a smart decision: Can you fight and work hard for a job in Toronto, or would you rather work elsewhere. You must be the judge of your own abilities.

completely agree..simple words work hard anywhere you will be rewarded whether it is India US Canada or any other place in this world..
and i am not saying anything against India as even i am an Indian , but don't you guys think working and studying is much easier in western countries rather than India where you don't even have much scope of part time jobs..
