Toronto advertising industry

Hi all,

Does anyone here know how to get your foot in the door in advertising agencies in TO? I'm an advertising creative (copywriter) with over 15 years of experience in 3 Asian countries, moving to TO in the next few months. Do ad agencies seek relevant education in Canada? Asking as in other countries, your eduction doesn't matter as a creative, but your portfolio and you're hired based on the quality of your work.

Any new immigrants in the ad industry or trying to break into it?

Thanks for the reply. I did figure they need Canadian work experience. But it'd be interesting to know if anyone got a foot in the door based on their portfolio and experience outside of Canada. It's common for ad creatives to get hired internationally based on their work.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I received my PR recently and have been scrambling to do things. Hope you're able to make a move soon and get a job.
