I will be starting my program this coming September 2018 and it will last for 2 years.

I would want to stay in Canada after graduating and earn some working experience. I was told that I may be eligible to apply for PGWP within 3 months after graduation.

My queries are:

  1. What if during my schooling an unavoidable situation might happen that would require me to take a break from school and ask for a authorised leave of absence. Would I still ne eligible to apply for PGWP??? The minimum requirement for PGWP is to have at least more than 8 months so more like 9 months above of CONTINUOUS FULL-TIME schooling. What if after taking a break I still have 2/3 more terms to finish so that’s like 1 1/2 year of full time school. Will I qualify for the PGWP? I took a break but I continued it for 1 1/2 year meaning I have more than 8 months of CONTINUOUS FULL-TIME schooling after taking an authorised leave of absence. So do I qualify?
  2. IF EVER I’m not qualified, what are my possible options so I could stay in Canada and gain working experience?
  3. Im from the philippines, I have more than a year of work experience, I graduated college then now I will be starting school in Ontario Canada. With these, is it possible for me to qualify in FSW or Work permit or Express entry IF NOT qualified for PGWP?

I am open for possible worst cases scenarios that could affect my goal of staying in Canada after schooling and apply for work permit to have a working experience.

Honestly I took the student visa for my goal and dream to stay in Canada and to have a career there because I was advised that it would be a PLUS for me to be able to immerse myself in the system and culture before starting to have a work career. And that the Immigration office might see my deep interest in their country.

Anyway
I’ll be staying in Ontario Canda

You’re answers are very much appreciated.

Thank you very much

1. If you take a break from your studies then you should expect your PGWP to be refused. As you've read, your studies must be continuous to qualify for a PGWP.
2. It will be very difficult to stay and work. To obtain a work permit you'll need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job and also obtain an approved LMIA. It's next to impossible to find employers willing to go through this process.
3. You'll need to research the Express Entry requirements and calculate your points. None of us can answer this question for you. Note that just because you qualify doesn't mean you'll be selected (it's a points based program and those with the most points are selected). You'll want to have 440+ points to have a high chance of being selected.
