Finally it's good to see that people in japa waiting for their visas are getting some response from the Tokyo office. I hope everyone will get their visas within a couple or a few months. Let's keep this thread alive and share our experiences here.

A quick question: does this visa office send medical and passport request at once? Or does it depend on the case?

Hi,
So far people have received PPR and medicals together. This is based on my friend's and Shakira's experience. My friend did not receive a RPRF request but Shakira apparently did. I see this as more a sign of inexperience at the visa office than dependence on the case.

I think you are right. Afterall, this is tokyo's first time to handle visa cases. It used to be Manila that handled all the applications from japan. So let us wait and see.

Totally agree with your comments.

In the past I also had a very good experience with the Tokyo office because I am from Mexico, a country needing temporary visas for tourism and transit. And I also heard from other Latinos in Japan that the temporary visa processing is pretty fast compared to other countries (main reference is Latin America).

So we see the same trend for the immigration visas, which is very good for us !!! :)

Good luck ! I'll keep you posted of other advancements !

I FOUND OUT THAT I AM PREGNANT AND I WONDER IF I CAN GET MY VISA BEFORE I GIVE BIRTH. I HOPE THEY WILL PROCESS IT FASTER SO THAT I CAN LAND IN CANADA BEFORE MY BELLY GETS TOO BIG...

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT. PLEASE SHARE YOUR OPINIONS AND WHEN YOU THINK VISA CAN BE ISSUED ONCE MEDICALS ARE COMPLETED??

Congrats Okshan both on the medicals and the baby! Hope both will go fine.
However, although depending on your doctor, I guess you would need to wait until the baby has arrived to complete the medicals. It is for the X-ray.

By the way, did you receive anything else such as passport and RPRF request?

Thanks

okshan819, my CONGRATULATIONS too !!! Both are great news!

Do your medical instructions say where the results should be sent? Manila, like mine?

Anyway it's hard to say when the visa would be granted, since the Tokyo office is so new in processing immigration stuff. But I'll keep you posted about my application too.

One thing you should consider when moving to Canada (esp. when pregnant) is that some provinces like Ontario will not give you a health card for 3 months after you arrive. Without medical insurance the fees for check-ups and delivery will be really high. Just be careful when planning! Well let's trust everything will go well for you & family.

Dear Shakira,

Thank you so much for the heads up and for your warm wishes. Oh, I should make it clear. The visa office only sent me an e-mail to say that they will send the medicals. So I am assuming I will receive it soon. Once I get the medical instruction in my hands will let you know the content of it.

Wishing us all the best of luck! Hope we share good news again soon :) I am sure that things will sail out smoothly for the two of us...pray and pray.....

okshan819, congrats both on your med request and yor pregnancy.

i'm afraid, however, that you cannot undergo the medical exam if you are pregnant.

well, that is what my consultants told me. you can ask our senior members here about your condition.

good luck!

Hi again Okshan,

I was reading other posts and forums, and found out that your medicals will be delayed if you're pregnant, as Rizela said above.

What you need to do is NOTIFY THE VISA OFFICE IMMEDIATELY about your pregnancy.

(Seniors, please correct me if I'm wrong)

Best regards.

HI Shakira,

Thanks for your concern too. Today I received my medical forms in hand. They did not request for the RPRF and PPR.....I wonder what that means?

However, I did some research and my gynecologist told me it is safe to do the X-ray with the protective shield and only and only if they use one. He told me to ask the DMP specifically.

I will go ahead and book our appointment for next week. My only worry is how long after medicals will they wait to issue the visa? I hope I can get the visa stamped sooner. Of course it is wishful thinking and only God knows what will happen.

In my medical request form, it says that the medical request will be sent to Manila? I don't quite get that actually.....how come there?

Hi Okshan,

I unfortunately don't have concrete answers to your questions... Sometimes the visa office requests medicals, RPRF and PP all together, sometimes separately... from what I've read I guess it's case-by-case. In my case, I've been waiting for 4 years without much news from Manila but provided updates a few times, including a thorough one to CIC Tokyo last year, plus my husband is a Canadian citizen, so maybe they just concluded that I have enough to get the visa. But still, I don't know when the visa will be stamped... that's the million dollar question! With such a new visa office it's hard to say. I'm just hoping they do mine in one month or so.

So in your medical instructions you don't have the line saying "Medical results were sent to Manila on:... " ? And you don't have any other instructions? Perhaps you have to check with the visa office on that one.

About the medical exam, I did it at the Tokyo Medical & Surgical clinic. The X-ray is just for the chest, and they do give you a protective shield to put on your waist. At the reception you'll get some forms to fill out, and I think in one of them they ask if you're pregnant. Also the doctor who checks you up will ask this question.

I really hope everything goes well and you can get the medicals done without hassles!

Hi Okshan
It is great that you have received your medical request. Hope all goes well with the DMP.

Medicals should go to Manila as there is only ONE regional medical office in this region and it is in Manila. The medical officer, who is another DMP located in Manila, will then forward the results to your Visa Officer in Tokyo. This might take around a month.

My understanding for not receiving PP request is that you do have a representative. They have only sent you the medical form as it would not make sense to send them overseas and back to Tokyo again! I assume your representative will soon receive such a request. It would be unfair to your representative to do all the communications directly with you when you have already authorized a third party to do so.

All in all, the Tokyo visa office is NOT very predictable as they are new. You might expect anything anytime!
