Just wanted to tell you guys that if you have done your masters in Canada and bachelor outside of Canada, you do not need to get ECA for the bachelor. That was my case and I got PPR.

Best of luck for everyone.

Hi.. I got 135 points for my education. I did my Masters in Canada and my bachelors in India. If I get the ECA for my bachelors degree, will it boost my points in "Skills transferability in Education". Thanks in advance.

Thank you for this information. However, I have a question:

I got my masters from Canada, and my Bachelor's degree from outside Canada. My job NOC in Canada requires a masters degree as minimum qualification. I worked the same job in my country where the minimum qualification for that job is a bachelors degree. I am using my work experience in this job from my country for FSW, and I have gotten points for it. Don't I need an ECA still?

Thanks

Firstly, congratulations on the PPR!!!

Did you send your Bachelor degree or mention it at any stage? (EE profile, submission with Education documents after ITA?)

You still don't need an ECA. Your Canadian Masters will get your points for Education. Your work experience points depend on the reference letter and not on your educational credentials.

Ok, thanks a lot for the info, I also have done Masters from Canada and Bachelors from India. I understand that no ECA is needed for the Bachelors degree. I have recently received an ITA and I just mentioned my Masters degree while EE submission. Was I also supposed to mention the Bachelors? If yes, can I do it now? I mean in post ITA form filling? Or just go ahead with providing proofs of my Canadian Masters, without even mentioning/declaring that I hold a Bachelors degree?

Perfectly fine if you did not mention Bachelors. CIC doesn't ask for full disclosure in education history - only as much information as is required to gain points.

Thank you, Asivad.

@Asivad, which sections require full disclosure, please? Because I thought holding back any information even though you got no points is misrepresentation.

Holding back something is NOT always misrepresentation.

You can hold back the fact that you did high school, showcase only a valid PhD and get the highest points. Nothing wrong with that. You can hold back a job or two that you did in the last 10 years which have no relation to your primary NOC and won't add any points to your profile. What you cannot hold back (and requires full disclosure) are things like having had another name, having lived in another country for medium to long term (more than 6 months in a row), being (or having been) married, having dependent children etc.

Misrepresentation is willfully declaring (or holding back) some facts which unduly add (or fail to reduce) CRS points and give you an unfair selection advantage over other applicants.

Not holding back can be practical at times and simultaneously not be a misrepresentation.

I have 3 years and 10 months of work experience as mechanical design engineer. I am pursuing Masters in Engineering at a University in Canada. Do I need to have my Bachelor's degree assessed by WES or equivalent body for applying to Express Entry? Because as I am already doing my Masters in Canadian University it proves that my Bachelor's degree was assessed by a Canadian institution and was found appropriate. Pl. note that I wish to apply for Express entry within next two months and I will be done with my Masters degree by August 2016. Pl. help.

If you're planning to apply for EE before completing your Masters, you will need an ECA because, at that point in time, your highest educational credential will be your foreign Bachelors degree. And the system will not award you points for that credential without an ECA.

Thanks for the info. The concern is that I asked to the legal advisor at my university and he suggested me to portray that I have Masters degree and just fill it up that by aug. 2016 I will be done with Masters. I dnt know how viable is it? Because he said as my Bachelor's degree credentials are already assessed by a University and I am admitted into it I need not to submit transcripts to WES for assessment.

Get a second opinion from an immigration lawyer as well.

Not sure how you could claim an in-process degree as completed while filling up the EE profile. Till Aug 2016, your highest credential will be your foreign Bachelors.
