Hiya,
What are the benefits of me (the sponsor) representing my husband? If my husband speaks english well, is there really any point? In the case that we don't get approved, does this affect anything if i'm not a representative?

It doesn't have a big effect on the application. I was representative to my husband because he doesn't have steady Internet access and if something were mailed, it's more likely it would get lost going to him than to me. Not to mention his cell phone provider had lots of issues, so we felt more comfortable knowing that I would receive the information without any issues and let him know.

So I received the emails from the visa office on his behalf. For us it was peace of mind knowing that we would receive the information, but for most people it doesn't really make a huge difference.

Not sure if your spouse is also from DR (from your user name) but if he is, you may want to do the same to ensure the information is received.it doesn't make any difference besides the letters and emails will be sent to your email.

if you represent your husband then you can make queries to CIC after stage 1. sponsors can only call about the application till sponsorship evaluation is ongoing (stage 1). beyond that, only the applicant can make queries.

Tink23 thank you! He is from DR and I would have never considered the cell phone and or mailing issues. I guess it's an easy decision then.

If you want to connect with more people who have a Dominican spouse, there is a facebook group you may want to join (if you're not already on there) called Dominicano Spouses. Any other info u may need, feel free to message me.
