My husband is the main applicant and right now has 387 points.

We currently live in Canada and both have full time jobs, my husband will reach a year of employment inside Canada in April. So we will have 448 points. My question is - do you think this would be enough points by this time, will the CRS cut off drop that low? Or should I take an English test and get an extra 20 points to bring us up to 468?

I don't really want to be spending $300 and then the points be lower than 448 by the time we have a years experience.

To be on the safe side get your IELTS. Personally I don't see CRS going below 450 in coming months although there have been draws pretty close to 450 but why wait for eternity, when you know that you get much better score than 448. Historically CRS has never gone below 450 too.

Thanks for the reply. I see your point. Guess I'm going to have to make an appointment for the IELTS then.

Thanks again

You can get an extra 10 points through IELTS. If you have done your WES then an extra 10 points.

IELTS would give you more points so might as well go for it. Immigration is very expensive and there are no discounts or shortcuts.

You can get 20 points for spouse IELTS if they get CLB9 above in all sections. One CLB drop, will reduce two points for each section. Why lose those points? 460+ will be a competitive score. Your chances would be pretty low with 448.

I suggest waiting for two more weeks and see where the CRS goes. It takes time to get a seat at IELTS and another 13 days for results, why not save the $330 and the stress for a little longer. A lot has changed since 450 was the lowest score. No one knows yet what the larger draws will reveal now that the EE pool provides the majority of applicants. Hang in.

Spouse IELTS is worth up to 20 points (CLB9 for everything), ECA is worth up to 10 points.
