Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Hi Friends,

I got confused with question 3 after reading so many posts.

My case is simple, Myself and my wife (PR) is with me working in Canada. I like to sponser my mom(who is in India) as my dad has expired an year ago. So, what is my family members count .

I am not going have my wife as co-signer as I have sufficient income on my own to sponser my mom.

Is it 2 (myself and my wife) or Is it 3(myself , my wife and my mother)?

Question 3 of which form? You need to be more specific.

If you're referring to Q3 of IMM 0008 form, then it should be 1 (your mom). However, your family size is 3 in IMM 5768 form.

I had same family size (myself, my wife and my mom) when I applied in 2015.

I plan to sponsor my parents,but I can't open some forms likes IMM 1344 ,IMM 5767.because the Cic haven't updated the forms or because I don't have the right software to open it? Please help,the deadline is due soon but I still can't open the form to fill out. Please help me!!!

Right click on the form and save it on your desktop or any folder. Once downloaded, right click on the form and select "Open with...", then select Adobe Actobat

I received request for Police Clearance Certificate and RPRF this morning. The email also has a form where CIC has asked for details on all foreign travels, dates and purpose. Is this normal?

It's very normal if it's the first time they ask for. Did they ask for medicals also ? or already done ?

Sorry, dont understand what that means- if it's the first time they asked for? Are they asking for this with all applications?
Medicals were done in July. They had asked for some additional reports which were done and sent to CIC in August.

It's normal. Lot of people had to fill this form as well. On the other hand, some had to fill out an updated IMM 5669 form with personal history and addresses since age 18.

It is Dec 7 but still the following file was not update for 2017. Do you have any idea when it may be updated?

I would advise against not having your wife as cosigner. If you do, you would have to justify it and saying you alone can pass the minimum threshold is not usually enough.
It is expected that if you are married, you would be cosigning as you live in the same household.

Different case if you separated or if there is any other unique reason.

I alone made more than enough income to sponsor both my parents but I still had my wife as a cosigner.
As for family size, it will be 3 for you. It doesnt matter whether you wife is depending on your income or not.

It is the size of household + number of person you are planning to sponsor + anyone you might have sponsored before.

I didn't understand your logic. If you don't need a co-signer to meet the MNI and are pretty sure that you will continue to do so in case your family size increases in near future while the application is in-process; you're saying to declare your spouse as a co-signer just because you're married. In that way, you're making your spouse to undertake the financial responsibility of your own parents for 20 years.

This is bad advice.
If he meets the minimum required income, why would he make his wife financially responsible for his own parents?
The advice was not well thought out.

Hi,

What is UCI number required for Generic Application form , my mom is in Canada on a visitor visa. Is this number same as Document no. on the Canada visa as this is 8- 10 digit as explained in the guide.

Please help answer.

Thanks Rossei. I was referring IMM 0008. Sorry, i was not specific on my question/Form. I dont' want my wife as co-signer as she doesn't earn much and getting all her employment document is difficult. I go only with my income with out having her as co-signer.

Hi Everyone, i want to sponsor my parents on Jan 2017. I have some confusion for my eligibility for sponsorhip.
I have sponsorship application for my wife in procress as of June 2016, is that a problem for my application for parents in Jan 2017?

I have put 4 in total number of persons for determining the eligibility for sponsorship which includes My self, my wife and my mother and father OIs that right?

So according to the family size I guess the minimum required income is 58768
My income for last 3 year is as follows
2015------>80131
2014------>73000
2013------>53000
am i still eligible to apply

My Family Size For 2013 was 3 people as i was not married, Am i still not eligible for application

Now as I got married in Feb 2016, my family size will it be 3 for 2015,2014 and 2013?
