Hi Scylla,

I just wanted to confirm something related to this...my husband's parents are in Syria and we're trying to look at a number of options to get them out should things deteriorate even further. Obviously, refugee sponsorship isn't an option (unless they leave Syria) but I'm tempted to have the forms ready / money in the back / G5 or community sponsor group ready. Another option is PGP although I know this takes years (4 plus) to process...but I don't want to rule it out.

Just so I'm clear....if I (sponsor of my husband who is PR now) have been filing my taxes for past number of years and have MNI as a co-signer to his sponsorship for PGP, can we theoretically apply for sponsorship of his parents even if he doesn't have an NOA? I don't think we'll be back in Canada in time for the next "cut off" (2017) (will miss it by a couple of months) but for 2018 he wouldn't still have any NOA's...

Finally a silly question perhaps...but I assume there is no way to sponsor parents and grandparents at the same time? (he has one set of grandparents still alive in Syria)....perhaps refugee sponsorship is the best way to go here...(plus a over-age but dependent sister - I don't see the exception rule for PGP as I do with Refugees / Asylum class)

Thanks for your awesome help on these threads...

Hey all...as someone who tries to help others with their questions on this forum I would love to hear some feedback on my questions above...

What does your email say when CIC asked for PCC? You should follow their instructions. Ottawa sometimes accepts email attachments.

This is everything I know about Ottawa:
RPRF to CPC-O (email): CPCO-Cost-Recovery@cic.gc.ca

Docs to CPC-O (email): CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca

Docs to CPC-O (mail):

My case transferred to ottawa since early June, still no medical request, is it normal?

The case was marked as in progress for one month and half already, anybody experience the same?

Same case with me. It was transferred to Ottawa in early August and that's it; no medical or PCC.
I think, Ottawa is going slow in comparison to other offices. May be they have more load overall so have assigned few resources for PGP.
Fingers crossed!! Still, overall PGP program is going fast so that's a relief ..

Thanks Rossei. For RPRF, I believe you need to send something to CPC-Mississauga as well along with Cost-Recovery@cic.gc.ca? Does anybody know the email address for them? Or even better post both the email addresses?

Thanks.
I guess you're right. I assumed it's all written when CIC/LVO asks for RPRF in email/mail.

For me, SVO said to my mom that her sponsor should submit proof of payment to CPC-M (online/fax/mail). It didn't specific any email rather gave us the link of "After you apply" page. So, I uploaded the receipt using Webform which is perhaps same as sending email to CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca.

I created a CIC account under my name and linked my parents application to this account with the file number that was in the sponsorship approval email.
Is this the right way to do it? The application status shows as follows.

Application/profile status - Open
Review of eligibility - Review in Progress
Review of medical results - Not needed at this time
Review of submitted documents - (blank)
Scheduling an interview - Not needed at this time
A background check is needed - Not needed at this time
Final decision - Not Started

Is it normal that "Review of submitted documents" shows blank?? Also, if we haven't been asked for medical exam yet, is it supposed to show "Not needed at this time"? I don't see medical requests in the application messages section at the bottom. It seems that now many applicants have been moving forward fast and I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything or done anything incorrectly. My parents application was sent to Ottawa and has been in process since Aug. 10. Since then, no requests or updates yet. It's just being a little slow, right?
Mine shows exactly the same. PCC?Medical started in July.

im not sure if someone else is facing same issues,

when you want to log in to check your application status through this link, do you get into an endless loop where you log in , you accept the terms, sometimes it ask a validation question, then you choose the language ,then you choose create / sign in ? i stay in a 10-15 times loop and keep doing the same thing until i reach the status page by fluke ! anyone else having the same issues ?i tried with firefox and safari so far and same thing !

After being approved by Singapore and got visa stamping done in Ottawa, I took my mom to Coutts land border in Alberta this afternoon to complete landing. The process was so quick and seamless. Since we wanted to avoid busy weekend we decided to go Friday afternoon and both sides were pretty much quiet, even though it is the biggest border crossing in Alberta. We were one of very few passenger vehicles, the rest were cargo trucks at the time.

Quite different from others' experience, it took us longer at the U.S office than on Canadian side. On the U.S side, we were told to park the car and came inside the building. Officer was nice, after about 20 minutes doing some paperworks on computer he came back and gave my mom refusal of admission into the U.S. Without being asked, he told us that this has nothing to do with our entry records to the U.S as it is an administrative refusal to do the landing on Canadian side tonight. He said you guys can declare "no" if later on being asked if ever refused into the U.S. Then he drove his car to escort us back to the U-turn into Canada.

CONGRATULATIONS vnexpress !!! I am very happy for you..

I have a question. Did your mom have a US visa? To be able to U turn to US border.. Do you need a visa? or just simply enter the US border.. Then wait till the Border officer denied you from entering and back to Canada for formal landing.. //

Thank you very much...

Once on Canadian soil, the frontline officer asked what we were there for and took my Canadian passport and my mom foreign passport. He asked typical custom questions about items or cash to declare to which we responded no. He then gave us a yellow paper, asked us to pull over to the front building and come inside with all other paperworks to finish landing. Friendly, quick and professional.

We went inside, there was nobody we were the only people (actually just my mom) there for landing at 8pm Friday afternoon. One male officer greeted us warmly and asked if mother can speak English, if not I will need to translate. He was the only immigration officer on duty at the time I guess. He asked mom 2 questions on COPR which are "ever been arrested" and "any other dependent children". He didn't bother to ask anything else. Then he asked me to write down address to send PR card. Mom initialed on the 2 COPR copies for those 2 questions and signed at the bottom. He then told us to sit and wait. After 5-7 minutes of entering data in the system, he called us back and very nicely and warmly smiled and said to us "Please tell your mom I congratulate her for becoming a PR today. It's all done now. Expect PR Card within 90 days". He stapled her COPR to the passport and told us this paper is her temporary proof of PR. He gave us a paper instruction on how to get SIN and Health Care. By the way make sure you bring any immigration permits you had since they do ask you to surrender at the time of landing.

Our own experience about landing at land border was quite pleasant, quick and easy. The whole process for both US and Canadian side was just about 30 minutes. I guess we came during less busy hours so the officers from both sides were nice and helpful, though I heard some people had very bad and scary experiences with officers at border crossings in Alberta when they try to validate their COPR during busy hours, especially at the Carway POE.

So the journey is complete after 1 year and 9 months (actually the real processing just took 3 months from SA assessment to PR Visa because for 1 year 6 month the file just sat idly at CPC-Mississauga). We drove back to home in Calgary which is 3 hours away from Coutts border.

Good luck to the rest of you here. I can tell CIC is doing their best to help reunite parents to their Canadian children as quickly and easily as they possibly can. It's hard to remain patient, I wasn't a patient person myself, but your day will come eventually.

No you do not need to have U.S Visa for flagpoling. Even if you have US Visa they might render refused admission into US as an administrative refusal, to facilitate your return into Canada. Administrative refusal means you do not wish to enter the U.S and would like to be turned back right away so it's not a big deal for them.

@ Rossei Can you please help me in regards to following:

Delhi office told me to email the receipt for RPRF fees to CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca. A week after, I received email to submit my request using IRCC form. I am not sure about following options
1. Do you submit the paper application to an office outside Canada. "Should I select No or Yes and then select Delhi office"
2. Type of application? "If I select Yes above then should i select Sponsership for this option"
3. Then applicant information-will be my father information and inquirer will be sponser information
Thanks!

If you're talking about MyCIC, then you may have to delete cookies of your browser few times before logging. I use Chrome and it works.

No (because you submitted your app originally to CPC-M)

1st field: Sponsorship
2nd field: Sponsorship - Spouse, common law partner, dep children, parents/grandparents living outside Canada

3. Then applicant information-will be my father information and inquirer will be sponser information
Correct

Follow my steps re: deleting history (cookies/cache).

In Google Chrome,
It's Customize & Control button (on top right corner) > History > Clear browsing history

For Firefox, try both:
Delete cookies: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-cookies-remove-info-websites-stored
Delete cache: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache

You may have to do it few times before each login to MyCIC.
