Argh, while filling out the application I realized I may not be eligible to apply yet :'( :'( :'( :'(. I graduated in mid-2012 and started working in July, so for 2012 my total income (line 150 on NOA) doesn't meet the cut off for family size of 3.

Example:

Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
2013 2012 2011 (Guide hasn't been updated for 2014 yet)
3 persons $46,354 $45,040 $44,229

For 2012, I'm under $45,040 because I only worked 6 months.

Can someone please confirm my observation ?

Hi,
I just posted this as a new topic but after finding this posting I was hoping you might have the answer for me.
I was under the impression that you needed 3x NOAs to sponsor your parents for permanent residency.
I phoned CIC a few days ago and they told me "income was income" and that foreign income earned over this period counted towards proof of income.
Did CIC get it wrong? The guy seemed adamant. I questioned him twice about it.
Clarification greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I respect your wish to get your parents asap. But fact is we have to go thru few years to test. I can tell you what will happen on 4th jan 2016 with my limited experience of 2014 & 2015
More than 10K apps will try to reach on very first day. Now either 5 k or if Justin election promise implemented soon, then 10k app will be accepted
The way it works. Coops students will open your packages
1> Will put stamp and count number on application
2> Students will check if forms are filled properly and the forms are of correct version
Any mistake at point 2 will result in return of application. I see many people get apps returned due to scan signatures of parents or incorrect version of forms used ( many try to fill up by November only, thru forms of previous versions are almost of same type, but rule is rule, here their small changes 7 CIC update its new version in December & you miss noticing it ,miss the bus for one year). So please download and fillfinal forms only in December.
3> if up to point 2 is fine , then checklist TICK starts
a> NOAs or option c for 2012,2013,2014 will be needed issued by CRA. It does not matter what the CIC call centre chaps says to you. Also many people may try to give NOAs of last 2 year plus salary slips or other job documents of year 2015. It does not work like that. Three NOAs means Three NOAs of 2012,2013,2014. That’s it. Now you may try your luck by sending your Australian tax returns with cover letter for year 2013,2013. At worst your application will be rejected & return back.Try it & share your experience. A coop students may just untick point a & return your application. Or he may try to show it to supervisor. That’s is your luck. Remember 20 k to 50K applications for 5 or 10 k positions are already must be pending for them to check.
b> Next document is relationship of sponsor with sponsored. Birth certificate or class 10 certificate with father or mother name( basically whosever you want to sponsor). Mind it, you are not sponsoring parents. You are sponsoring only one person & his/her dependents & spouse. It is another matter that the sponsored person's spouse happens to be your mother in most people’s cases.
c> Next, sponsor’s relationship with dependents, with spouse a marriage certificate or common law form , with 18 year kid , his education & birth certificate etc
d> other travel documents like passport photocopies of your parents.
If point a,b,c,d are all TICKED by student. Congrats u come to fee section
here, be very careful with your fee section.
1> It is important if you have filled credit card info. Make sure credit card is valid for year or longer. I think that have instructions of its validity period , I will like to add that do not use it for next 3-4 months until CIC make use of it. Any loss of that card or online fraud of that card during that period or credit limit issues can result in rejection of your well send application due to fee issue. Also double check that the fee filled is CORRECT
2> if you are planning to give certified Cheque. That’s is another animal to tame. In pure financial terms . it is personal Cheque certified by bank. Most of the time people just drive themselves to bank and ask for issuing certified Cheque What they get is Money order or Banker draft. It is purely speculative if that will be acceptable mode of payment..
So be careful on that issue.
In the last I would like add , after 3-4 months , if you get email with application number. Go get beer & enjoy . You won the lottery. At least that is the feeling one gets -)…

You are right. You cannot yet apply for PGP. For same reason, I couldn't apply in 2014 rather had to wait for 2015. I started working in mid-2010, so my 2010 NOA was less than the MNI for 2010.

Foreign income earned while you're residing in Canada, and that's reported in your taxes, may be allowed as qualifying income since it will show up as total income in your NOA/Option C through the CRA.

Foreign income earned while you are living in another country and not reported through Canadian taxes, is not allowed. CIC will not accept any documents other than CRA issued NOA or Option C. Any income proofs consisting of foreign country tax returns or pay information, will be quickly rejected by CIC.

I can do it although it takes considerable time at the beginning when the "race" starts. But you guys should stick to one thread and someone from your group should take this responsibility.

If multiple 2016 applicants still want me to do it, I won't have any objection.

Just to get an assurance from experienced applicants:

We're a family of 4 and I want to sponsor my parents, and my income for the past 3 years were way below their income requirements (about half of it) but my common-law partner will co-sign (he himself's incomes alone have already exceeded the requirement). We've been together two and half years, have a child together and will do the Common-law declaration etc.

Will CIC reject my case because they may doubt that our relationship is not genuine? I'm also on maternity leave so under "Your current situation" under financial evaluation, should I check "unemployed" or "employed"?

Many many thanks!!!

One more question: I have my birth certificate translated & certified in 1999 when I was getting my student visa. Is it still valid? Is there an expiration for notary certificate?

Thanks!

Hi Rossei,

Thanks for directing me to this thread. I read all the posts on this thread, but I am still wondering whether I should mail the application on Dec 31, 2015 or Jan 4, 2016. I believe I read somewhere that for 2015 applications, all the applications received prior to Jan 2, 2015 were returned. I am concerned because I live in a small city in Alberta.

Thanks again,
Adele

Well, I live in a small city (Sarnia) in south-western Ontario. I tried to mail my app on Dec 31 and just because it's a smaller city and no one cares; the last pickup on all courier was around 11am. Although I dropped my mail by 1pm, it wasn't picked up till Jan 2. Anyway, it reached CPC-M finally at 11am on Jan 5. I was very fortunate to be counted among the 5000 complete app as 12pm was reportedly the last time someone's app got accepted.

I've shared this story so that you make the right call. I highly doubt that if you mail it on Jan 4 all the way from Alberta, it would make on same day. 2016 applicants may not have the luxury in going for the 2nd day.

You also mentioned about applications reaching prior to Jan 2 of 2015. What prior date? Dec 31? I don't think anyone did it 2015. It happened back in 2014 and that made people cautious. Same way people would be more concerned re: sending the app on the very first day in 2016.

Book a hotel or paying guest accommodation for a week in new year in GTA. Try few things
1. Shop around for local courier people who can stand in line early morning
2. Use fedex that guarantee 9 am or 11 am reaching service. Thru nothing is gurantee on that day
3 use purorator same day service while in GTA on 4th jan
Purorator same day service person also charge 30 dollar per hour for standing in line. They note down your credit card number and charged later.
Best of luck

Hi Rossei,
I called Fedex in my city. The office is closed from Dec 24- Jan 4. So they advised me to mail in the application on the day of Dec 23. I thought it was a bad idea. If the package arrived on Dec 31, it would not be counted.
On another note, when you have the document signed, did you use blue ink or black ink?
Thanks,
Adele
