Yes, in the month of May. I believe the medical results are valid for 6 months.

Medicals are valid for 12 months.

Does this mean if my parents went for medical exam for visa extension, they don't need to do medical exam again if the permanent resident medical exam request come?

No they don't as long as the 12-month period falls within when CIC receives your previous medical report. Note that, PR Visa is also valid till the same 12-month period. So, if your medical is near expiry, it's better to do it again. Otherwise, CIC may ask your parents to do it again as well.

I hope I made myself clear.

As far as I know that the single entry PR visa's expiry date is same as that of the date of the expiry of the medical. This is what I have observed when I landed as a PR in 2011.

Congrats random hero!

Does this mean after you get your mother's passport back with PR visa, you then need to go to flag pole for her passport to get entry stamp? Thanks.

I am not sure if I would suggest you to do visa stamping with Ottawa. I've been waiting for 2 weeks already with absolutely no updates :( Maybe your LVO will be even faster to print your mom visa. Ottawa can be super fast, or at same odd, super slow, they are fluctuating all the times, no fixed deadline, PLUS the possible postal strike screwing everything up.

there should be no more postal strikes as their issue is resolved at least for next two years !

was there an option to go in person to ottawa for this or it should be by post and take ridiculous time to get it done ?

Nope. No walk-in allowed. You can only send stuffs to them and let them take whatever time they choose to process the passports.
I guess life is fair. I got better treatments at some steps so I need to be slowed down at other steps and visa stamping is one of those slow steps for my file. I am not sure how Ottawa will handle visa stamping in next several weeks though. Right now, very slow, pp received on August 26 still have no response.

I heard Ottawa decided to hold the mails during possible strikes so it was a bit messy last week.
Anyway now I realize it is always better and probably faster to get visa stamping done at the office that approved it.

did LVO advise you what to do or what is the process to send it to Ottawa or you just went ahead at your own? can you please give more details about this ?
