Hi All!

My husband (Canadian citizen) and I (US citizen) have a tiny house (a wood framed single level structure under 13' high) built on a an old travel trailer frame (on wheels) for which we have the legal title and WA state registration. The house is currently in the USA and we plan to move it to Canada upon my being granted PR in Canada via Spousal Sponsorship.

My questions are. Does anyone here know the laws and regulations in Canada regarding tiny houses, custom RVs (max legal road vehicle height, certification/inspection requirements, etc) and the procedure of crossing the border into Canada with such a thing?

I realize this is an incredibly unusual thing to ask and most people probably haven't even heard of a tiny house, but I figured I'd throw it out there and any imput is much appreciated (we would love to keep our house as we go through this immigration process).

Thank you!

Hi

It would come under the motor vehicle act in Canada So I would check the regulations for the province you are planning to travel too. Regulations pertain to trailers or motor homes. You go in and tell them you have a homemade trailer you want to register. They will ask number of axles, and capacity, so have some idea what its load will be. Hope this helps.
