Hi everyone!

I managed to complete my CEC application today, but I'm still waiting for the police certificate - and that's probably going to take three weeks from now. I'm aware that I can send my application without it. But would that somehow delay them from sending me the AOR? My understanding is that the AOR will include instructions on how to submit the police certificate later so am I right assuming that not including the police certificate will not delay them from sending me the AOR?

I'm concerned about the timings because my current work permit expires on Nov 26, 2014. It's very tight and I wouldn't like to lose my status! That actually raises my second question: given the case that I'm still waiting for my AOR *and* the date in which my current permit expires is approaching, do you think whether is a good idea or not to apply for a bridging work permit and send it to them by mail in order to extend my current status as much as possible until a decision about the eligibility of my CEC application is made?

Thank you in advance!

My recommendation is to send in your application asap and wait for the AOR. Use that to apply for BOWP.

you are right.

That is one strategy that people have used, yes. However, unless something changes at CIO-Sydney (always a possibility), if you apply today, you will most likely have your AOR in time.

I applied for CEC back in August and still haven't received the AOR letter. My visa expires Nov 14 and I was told by my lawyer to file a BOWP application at the same time. Don't do that.
I did and the CIC sent me a letter saying they want an LMO (basically because I didn't send them AOR).

So, what the CIC officer said today (I actually had to phone them and explain my situation) is to have a plan B in case I don't get my AOR letter before Nov 14. He said I should try and get an LMO so that if there's a y delays, I am covered.

Hope this helps

That was probably not a good advice, right? My understanding is that it's better to postpone your BOWP application as much as possible, e.g. a week before your permit expires - so they have time to decide if your CEC application is eligible *before* they look at your BOWP application.

In any case, I am sure you are going to be fine! Ninety days sounds like more than time enough for them to take a look to your application and send you the AOR. I don't know what to say about the idea of starting the LMO process at this point, considering that they recently raised the fee to 1000$. I hope your employer is up to that, I find it's just too much trouble for them, but maybe I should also consider it to be totally covered.

Good luck, immigrantbee.

Thanks! Good luck to you too.
The lawyer's advice was rubbish.
Cic agent said you can apply for Bowp
Up to the day before your current permit expires.
