I have a friend who is applying to bring her mother here from China, she told me it takes two years just to get sponsorship approval and then yeah another 8 or so. Good news is you should be able to bring your parents here a couple times on a SuperVisa while you wait for the other application. Her mom has been here already once for 6 months and she will come again probably this summer for 1 year. It sucks but the gov't will not fast track the process for parents/grandparents, think about it, depending on how old they are they won't be working at all, and I know my friend says that her mom won't even try to learn english. You can still do it, you have the right to be together with your family and as long as you have enough money to support them the gov't will allow it but they most likely concentrate on student, worker, visitors visas because those ones are going to bring money, and workers into the country. The rest of us have to wait.
