Hello!

My partner (applicant, Irish) and I (sponsor, Canadian) are finally ready to post off our application for outland common law tomorrow!!

I've been reading through this forum for the last few months and it's been so helpful! I hope we can contribute in our own small way while we wait to hear back.

A few questions:
1. Where can I get information about the timeline? A lot of people talk about AOR1 and other correspondence but I haven't been able to find any information about those types of communication.. how do you know what to expect if the first contact is via AOR1? Or is this information given to you when it's received?

2. We're confused about how to connect our mailed in paper application to the online cic account? If we don't do this, will they just be emailing us (we've provided our emails)? Is linking your application to the online account faster or does correspondence via email take around he same time?

So many questions!!!

On receipt of your application by cic, they would contact you based on the information provided on your application form as in email and mailing address. If your application is accepted they would send you acknowledgement receipt via email if you had supplied your email in the application otherwise you would received a regular mail. That mail or email would give you further instructions as to how to link your application online and you must follow the instructions. After successfully linking your application you can then monitor the progress of your application. It is always advisable to opt to received emails so you can easily monitor your progress . Going through regular mail brings additional delays . Good luck.

For information on 'real world' timelines, please see the spreadsheet link in my signature line below. As you are an Irish PA, you can expect to ultimately be directed on to London VO (or Mississauga if you are lucky).

Once you have sent your application pack in, do you want to be added to the sponsorship tracking spreadsheet so your information can help others? If so, just post your details and future updates on this thread and I will update the sheet.
