Timeframe for Permanent Resident Visa

Hello! I sent out our application for Permanent Resident Visas (for myself, spouse, and child) last month to the Centralized Intake Office in Nova Scotia under the Federal Skilled Workers Program. I know it takes about 12-14 months for the entire process. But in the meantime, how long should I expect to wait until I hear back from anyone that they are even considering our application to be approved? How do we know that we have a chance of getting the visas approved? Can anyone elaborate or share their experience? (I'm from the Philippines)

Expect to be contacted by CIC in another 3-4 months (that's. If you paid by credit card you can keep tracking if it's charged. CIC will contact you about a week after they charge you if you are found eligible. If not, then your application will be returned and you will only know it when you receive your application back.

Thanks for your reply! I didn't pay with my credit card... I sent a bank check. So still another 3-4 months? That's quite a torturous time to wait!
