Hello there,

I'm not able to get a straight answer on this topic...

Once a spousal application has been approved...from my understanding the applicant needs to come to Canada within a certain time frame and from there apply for their PR card. What is that time frame?

I'm trying to get clarity on this because he would try to secure a job before arriving in Canada so that he isn't in the scenario of being without work for too long. He is also concerned that he doesn't give his current employer too short of a notice of needing to leave for Canada.

Thank you to anyone who can help clarify this!!

The PR visa will have an expiry date on it. Normally this is one year from the date of the medical. However it can be shorter depending on the expiry date of the passport. This is just the date by which the applicant needs to arrive in Canada for the first time and land. It doesnt mean you need to move to Canada permanently by then.

Thank you! And by PR visa you mean the spousal sponsorship?

I mean the paperwork someone gets after they are approved for PR which allows them to travel to Canada and "land" to officially become a permanent resident.
