Time to process open work permit through common law partner

I would like to know how long it usually takes to resolve an open work permit applied for through your partner's sponsor (my partner would be the one sponsoring me, she has a closed work permit in a high wage position with positive LMIA).

What do you mean by “resolve”? You apply for SOWP along with your partner’s closed work permit. You wait for approval. If common-law and in Canada, you would have declared your common-law status with IRCC and CRA.

By resolve I mean resolve it. I figure out that if I apply, y will need to wait until a response right? Or I could work anyway?

Don’t know your status right now but you can apply at same time as partner. You entered Canada as common-law, paying taxes as common law so should not be an issue. If refused, then stop working.
