Time taken to return the passport at New Delhi Visa office

Hi All,

We received request for passport by New Delhi Visa office with deadline for June 6th.
Being in US, I'm planning on sending my wife with our passports to India.

Can anyone please share if they have sent their passports to NDVO and how much it took to get those back.
I'm concerned since our visas expire in September and I need to apply for an extension.

Also, will she need to carry any affidavit/notice from me for carrying my passport?

Any suggestion/replies would be much appreciated.

Hi - I have sent my passport to ND on 28th march and got it back on 14th april.

ideally it takes approx one month ;

I do not know what one should do in your condition; but I am sure passport should not be sent to India when you are in US" although its very rare that they will check your passport but God forbid if they see an Entry stamp to US but not exit they might question that.

I guess you should first check before taking any step

Did you submit passports thro VFS? I came back to India and submitted passports thro VFS this week.

Thanks wiz_kid, specially for pointing out the US exit stamp issue.
Still trying to figure out on how to attack this scenario. I have been suggested I can request that passports be submitted in the US itself.
Lets see.

Still awaiting more comments folks. Any help?
