Time taken in getting PR

Dear all,
Need you help to know how much time is taken approximately to get a PR of Canada, while you are applying from outside Canada (from New Delhi office). Here, I am referring to the time duration between the PR application filing date and date on which you can finally allowed to immigrate to Canada on PR and start working there.

My consultant is saying it only takes 8 months. But, I have heard from many people that it takes around 4 years. I am an IT professional.

I am not sure now, how much time it will take to get the PR finally. It is very important me to know this time duration so that i can plan accordingly and take Go No-Go decision.

Will be great if you can help.

We had to wait for years but a lot of 2012 applicants got their pr within a year. Go ahead and apply. It should take ten to twelve months.

For applications between 2010 and 2011; it takes from 3years to 2years.

2012: It takes from 1year to 2years.

So, 2013 applications and the ones after would definitely be a lot faster as most VOs are clearing backlogs causing this delays and the maximum number of all applications received have been reduced yearly by CIC.
