Hi all, just a question as I'm unsure if its been posed before. Do people who receive ITAs under the CEC have to have '12 consecutive months' of experience in the field for the relevant NOC code?

I ask as I came to Canada on a Working Visa and have worked 2 contract jobs in my field. There was about a 25 day period this year where I was between jobs as I was traveling. Assuming you don't need '12 months of consecutive work experience then my 365 days comes up on 1 Dec.

Can anyone shed light on this situation? Thank-you all for your replies.

No, you need to work 12 months (30 hours a week) accumulated in last 3 years. It is not required to be consecutive, and not required to be in the same noc and same employer (but it must be noc 0,A or B).
P.s. make sure you have at least 12 full months of Canadian work experience in last 3 years. In old CEC ppl got refused because of 2-3 days of missing work experience.

Ok thank you. I am happy to hear your response as all of my work was working as a professional 'Senior Financial Accountant'.

Just as a precaution if I get selected under CEC I might decline till well after my '1 year' has passed. Probably around the end of December.

Yes, you will need to show 12 working months, not just 12 months in Canada on work permit.

u will get 60 days to submit the documents after ita. U should not decline your ita. If you complete 1 year work after ita but before the submission of the documents then You are good.

I see, were you or anyone you know in the same position? It seems that from what you're saying the requirement of 'at least 12 months in the last 3 years' refers to submission of documents after getting the ITA, not accepting the ITA itself.

Can you please clarify?

I'm not really sure if it works this way.

"Foreign nationals who, on October 23, 2015 at 12:34:37 UTC , have been assigned a total of 489 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System"

I'm saying as I was in the same situation. I can't find the link it is mentioned on the cic website somewhere that your score and calculated from the day you received the ITA (draw date). This is the reason I had to decline my ITA that too twice.

I think you're right. It seems that the information on record as at the date/time of draw is used to determine what immigration program you qualify for. The flaw in the system is that work experience is calculated on a Months basis rather than days basis (ie if you start work on 30 Sept you still get credit for 30 days under CRS). However when they apply the CEC requirements I think it's done on a days basis.

In my opinion (as someone who has not been lucky enough to receive an ITA) you did the right thing. I believe that if they even suspect misrepresentation you can be banned for 5 years. Do you agree? Anyone else have any thoughts?

The other question I would ask those of you who have got an ITA is when do you click 'Accept' or 'Reject' the ITA? Is it on the day you get the invitation? Or do you have until day 60 to click 'Accept' and submit your documents?
