I have received my AOR on 6th June 2018. Medicals also passed, but on 20th June got a request to provide an additional document (Schedule A - Background Verification form) which I submitted on the same day. Since then, the status is stuck at 'We are reviewing the additional documents provided by you'. I tried reaching out to the CIC call center but they could not be of much help coz they only read out the status present on my application; however they told me that it takes maximum 6 months for CIC to complete the process and reach a decision.

My query is that I am intending to fly down to Canada by December 2018 end and hence I believe this is the right time to buy tickets. Should I proceed to buy the tickets? Will the process be completed and I will get the stamped visa by this time period? PLEASE ADVICE....

My advice would be not to buy any tickets until you get CoPR. A guy I know with May AoR had booked tickets for October 10th. As of today, he's still in IP1. if up factor in the time it takes to get the passport back after stamping, he's already going to run it pretty close.

Order gcms notes which can tell if there is 'review needed', if yes then be prepared for 8 to 12 month processing time.

One rule of travel. Never buy tickets until you have your visa in hand.

Not always. Depends upon what needs an additional review.
