Time line for Permanent Residence application for Refugees

so your time starts when they start processing. Pilot program has processing time of 1 year according to cic website so everything should be done in 1 year but if there are issues it will take longer. No body knows what is going on in officer heads they might want to check more. So it all depends

Asking for a friend. He landed here in Canada year ago but did not claim refugee protection. Now his status expired can he still claim a refugee protection ? Any insight guys.

And if he apply for refugee claim, can he applied for work permit ? How long does it take to get a work permit.

So you mean it will take another year to get reply from ircc?its more than 3yrs now since they got application and one yr since overseas requested additional documents now you mean after sending them these requested pictures it will take another year?

I thought same but according to the processing,both main applicant and spouse are processed together.from Mississauga and last yr march,overseas office requested for some forms and documents for overseas spouse.until now in canada main applicant has not got pr,only got pre arrival.passed medical and they said they are waiting for overseas spouse application

Which means both applications are processed concurrent.which is described as the very same system that 4th dec applicants are using.

Your friend will have many questions to answer so I don’t think it will be easy for your friend to be accepted unless he/she has a very very good reason not to apply the moment he/she entered canada.your friend should get avery good lawyer

This is strange, do you mind answering some questions that we can understand more about situation?
1, what was those two additional documents that they asked you .
2, are you entered canada with a visa and then claimed refugee or you passed border illegally and claim refugee?
3, have you been in military or any government position back home?
4, which country are you from?
5, did you provide requested document in the time frame they asked for it?

What was the reason he did not apply at first place until he is out of status? that raise possibility of Minister intervention...

Dar es salaam visa office..but process started in canada Mississauga last yr the application for dependants was sent to Dar es salaam and they requested to fill some forms plus police report to be delivered to them.

Please note that application forms for your family members will not be sent by the mission. You or your family members are responsible for obtaining and completing the required application forms for all listed dependants, which must be sent to the visa office in Dar es Salaam.
The required application forms IMM0008, IMM5406 and IMM5669 for your dependants are to be obtained on the internet at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/menu- outside.asp.
The following additional documents must also be submitted to the overseas office:
 Civil documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, divorce certificate, etc.)
