Hello every one,

My current situation is that I am applying for SPP and my course at Humber starts on the 3rd of September. The things that delay my visa submission is the GIC certificate( I transferred the money on 23rd of July ) and the 1 week wait period after medical is complete.

So I was thinking, why take a risk of applying late and being rejected from the SPP program. Moreover, due to the strike there seems to me a massive delay in the processing time.

If suppose I want to defer the intake to January. Im sure Humber would just give me a fresh letter because I have already paid the fees. But how do I combat the Scotia bank process? (Already transferred $10,100 on 23rd of July)

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Let it be there, Just transfer your intake and apply for visa at the end of august....meanwhile they will finish september intake's rush.....And you will have enough time for visa processing......Wise decision....I support you.

@paritosh.

So there wont be a problem with my money being locked with scotia bank, when they have opened the account for the September intake while I apply for the January intake?

I will be making the decision tomorrow as to either wait for GIC certificate till 2nd August or use the SWIFT receipt to apply on the 2nd August or change my intake.

Inform them that you are taking transfer..It is just a bank and it is going to issue few $ per month so there must not be any prob with bank. But inform them.
Also take advice from your consultant, If possible wait for your admission transfer letter and add that letter for your reply to bank....

Hello,

Greetings!

GIC is valid for 1 year ( which means even if you defer your intake by 1 year, you can still apply with the same GIC). Now, your decision is wise to move to Jan intake (the reason is - when you will apply for Jan intake, you will get work permit too along with study permit) because from Jan 2014 students can work 20 hours off campus from day one. The locking period of six months is over from Jan intake. Hence, it's good for you guys applying for jan intake.

As far as GIC is concerned, it doesn't fetch you any surplus at all buddy. What you make as surplus from this Guaranteed Investment Certificate is just 5 - 10 damn dollars that's it.

You needn't inform anybody about delaying your application as your GIC is valid for good one year ( this one year is from the day you have obtained it, you need to apply, utilize it or cancel it).

cheers!

Thanks for your response.

Luckily I woke up to a delightful mail.
yup I got the GIC certificate this morning ( sent the money on 23rd ).

As the GIC came. I would be applying for the visa by 1st august or 2nd at the Max.

Fingers crossed :)
