Time frame to apply for study permit

Hi all,

Can someone please advice after getting Letter of acceptance from college. In how long should a person apply for Study Permit?
And Once a person gets the visa approved, when can he travel at the latest on that visa?

Depends where you live, SDS or non-SDS. You can arrive 3-4 weeks before course starting.

For January? Actually, yesterday. I'm a non SDS applicant from Chile and I applied for the Winter 2022 Term. My timeline is as follows:

APPLICATION SUMBITTED - June 25
BIOMETRICS INSTRUCTION LETTER - June 26
BIOMETRICS UPDATED - August 16 (there was no earlier appointment)

No updates since.

The fee due date for international students of the college to which I applied is October 20, which means that if I haven't received a decision by then, I either:

1. Have to pay and start studying online (and risk loosing my tuition money in case my application is not approved)
2. Defer for the May Term

So, as you see, if you plan to start studying in January, I believe you are already against the clock. Research the fee due dates of your DLI and send that application ASAP!
