Time Frame of FSW, PNP and Temporary Work Permit applications

Me: 27 yrs old, UK PhD, worked full-time in US for 2 years.
Got a new job offer from Toronto, so thinking about move the wife and myself over there.

Question:
If I submit PR application through Buffalo office, how long will the whole process take?

My Choices:
1. FSW: 6-18 months?
2. PNP: 3+3 months for Nominee approval, then another 6-10 months for CIC. I may apply work permit in the second phase of the process?
3. Temporary Work Permit: can be obtained less than a month? After landed, I may apply for PR for shorter time?

Since my new employer is sort of eager to get me over there ASAP, which option should I go?

2. PNP: 3+3 months for Nominee approval, then another 6-10 months for CIC. I may apply work permit in the second phase of the process? PNP no idea
3. Temporary Work Permit: can be obtained less than a month? After landed, I may apply for PR for shorter time? the work permit depends of the visa office your applying and yes, if you have a permanent job offer with LMO or under any international agreement category exemption you may apply anytime after arrival (that's what I did)

Since my new employer is sort of eager to get me over there ASAP, which option should I go?. The best choice is TWP as is faster

If I apply for FSW when I'm already in Canada, will the process be significantly shorter than applying outside Canada? How long will it be?

Not shorter, not really. The TWP would get you here the fastest but may not be all that easy to get. Depending on the occupation, the employer will have to apply for an LMO after advertising the position, to demonstrate that there is no Canadian that can do the job. It would still take 3-4 months (depends on a number of factors).

If you can qualify under Category 2, Arranged Employment, either before or after coming here, that would be your fastest route to PR. To qualify under Cat 2, your employer has to offer you a "permanent" job - that is, it cannot be a term-limited contract, and it has to be 37.5 hours or more per week.

The employer said they are going to fill me in the IT Specialists program. (for some reason, I cannot post links here!)

TBH, I'm at the point convincing them to think PR is a faster route than TW. But I was told FSW normally takes a year...

I believe my case falls into "Arranged Employment" nicely. Can I tell them it is the fastest way?

You can apply for it in the UK, or once you're in Canada, either way. You just need the LMO and then you can get that application in.

Neither is easy. But please read carefully -

TWP will NOT get you PR. It is the fastest way to get to Canada and start working. But it is NOT PR. If you go that route, you will have to apply for PR you arrive.

Applying for PR as a Skilled Worker is NOT faster than applying for a TWP. But applying directly for PR under Cat-2 (rather than first a TWP and then PR) is the fastest way to PR.

It depends on what your priority is, how long your employer is willing to wait for you, etc. If your employer wants you ASAP then you should go for the TWP.

IF (note I say IF, I don't know) if the IT specialists program means it is LMO-exempt, then getting the TWP will be faster and easier (than positions that require LMOs).
