Hi there

Please advise if a study permit allows time between arrival in Canada and start date of course, i.e. how soon before course start date is one permitted to arrive in Canada (to allow for finding accommodation, settling, etc)?

Thank you!

Its nothing like that.
If you have study permit approval letter and stamp in passport in your hand. You can enter Canada.
But it is still advisable that you should go maximum 2.5 months before your course start date.

Also keep in mind that you cannot work until you start your studies. So if you come early, you have to be able to support yourself without working.

Thank you both!

Neelpatel, why do you suggest no more than 2.5 months ahead of time (also due to not being able to work?)?

I did not sugget you dear to go before 2.5 momths. I just answered your question that if you want to go earlier than you can go . Thats it.

But the bigger the gap between arriving and starting college you could be expected to answer questions by CBSA on how you plan to support self without working. May be asked maybe not nobody can really say which is why people on here generally quote 2-2.5 months as being reasonable.
